Town police are looking for two men in connection with a driveway resurfacing scam that netted $1,280 from an 84-year-old woman.
A police news release said the men offered to resurface the woman's drive Wednesday afternoon. The woman did not ask what the job would cost, but agreed to the work and left.
When the woman came home, the men were gone and the drive was sealed with a mixture of tar and gasoline. The men returned and requested $1,280 for the work.
The woman offered to write a check, but one of the men said he did not want his name on a check. That man called himself Raymond Barker and the name "Raymond" was imprinted on his belt.
The men offered to drive the woman to her bank where she withdrew the cash.
Lt. Bruce Bradbery said the woman reported the incident to ask police if the price was too high. Bradbery said a local contractor said sealing a driveway about the same size as the victim's would cost $100 to $150, if done properly.
Anyone with information about the men should call police at 961-1150.
