IRISH FILMS IN THE SPOTLIGHT IN CHARLOTTESVILLE

"Irish Film - A Mirror up to Culture," a festival and conference, is being held in Charlottesville this weekend.

As part of it, a new feature, "The Sun, The Moon and The Stars," will have its world premiere tonight at 8:15 at Culbreath Theatre.

It's the coming-of-age story of a 12-year-old girl starring young Elaine Cassidy and Angie Dickinson. The film was shot on location north of Dublin.

Tickets are $10 for the screening and $25 for a 6:30 dinner-reception for writer and director Geraldine Creed and Brendan McCarthy, Creed's husband, and the film's producer.

The conference is co-sponsored by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities Center for Media and Culture and the Film Institute of Ireland.
