a donation for the Salvation Army in front of Kmart at Crossroads

Mall. Haley says he enjoys his task because ``you get to meet a lot

of people.'' The Salvation Army Roanoke Corps is revisiting its

holiday tradition to raise money. Maj. Dan Delaney, commander of the

Roanoke Corps, said the organization is about $100,000 in the hole.

Delaney blamed the harsh winter, sagging thrift-store sales and the

loss of a federal grant. The corps set a goal of $112,000 - $1,000

for each year the Salvation Army has been in Roanoke. color.
