ORGAN RECITAL NEXT WEEK IN BLACKSBURG

SERVICES

Blacksburg High School senior Stephanie Kraige will present her senior organ recital at 7:30 p.m. May 25 in the sanctuary at Blacksburg Presbyterian Church. The program will include compositions by Bach, Brahms, Franck, Dandrieu and Penfield. A reception will follow the program in the Fellowship Hall. The program is free and the public is invited.

Kraige has studied piano for 11 years and is an accompanist for the Junior High and Senior High choirs at Blacksburg United Methodist Church. She began studying the organ with Katherine Burkhart in June 1995, when she also attended the Pipe Organ Encounter at Agnes Scott College in Atlanta. The program educates high school students about the organ and organ playing.

In April, she won second place in the organ scholarship competition sponsored by the Roanoke chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

In addition to the piano and organ, Kraige also plays the trombone and is a member of the Blacksburg High School Symphonic Band. She recently participated in the All-District Symphonic Band.

Kraige is a merit scholar who will graduate in June. She will attend the University of Virginia in the fall, where she will study engineering. She also plans to continue studying music. She is the daughter of Glenn and Dale Kraige.

Blacksburg Presbyterian Church is at Church and Eakin streets. For information, call Burkhart at 951-0605.
