DYNAMO ROUGHS UP RIVERDAWGS

The Roanoke RiverDawgs dropped a 4-1 decision to the Carolina Dynamo in a United Systems of Independent Soccer Leagues game at Cave Spring Junior High School on Saturday.

The loss drops Roanoke's record to 1-1 on the season while the win improved Carolina's record to 5-3.

Steve Weiger scored two goals for the Dynamo, whose four goals came on only six shots.

Radford University alumnus Ian Spooner tallied Roanoke's lone goal at the 36:00 mark of the first half with an assist from Jeff Knittel. The RiverDawgs managed only four shots for the game.

``Four to one is a disappointing score,'' said Roanoke coach Ed McMichael. ``The four goals that Carolina scored came more from the mistakes that we made than the great plays they made.''

Roanoke resumes action May 29 at home against the Hampton Roads Mariners.
