The Commonwealth Transportation Board will hold its final public hearing Thursday at 9 a.m. in Salem on proposed spending during the 1996-97 fiscal year for construction of primary, urban and interstate highways.
The hearing, at the Virginia Department of Transportation's Salem District office on Harrison Avenue, will focus on funding for the Salem, Bristol, Lynchburg and Staunton transportation districts.
Local officials and the public will have an opportunity to comment on VDOT's proposed six-year program, which serves as a blueprint for construction projects on major state roads. Spending for secondary roads is set separately by VDOT in consultation with localities.
Copies of the proposal are available at VDOT's county residency offices and at district offices in Salem, Lynchburg, Bristol and Staunton.
