Power to 810 American Electric Power Co. customers in the Reserve Avenue and Franklin Road sections of Southwest Roanoke was knocked out Tuesday morning when an AEP subcontractor cut down a tree, which then fell across a 69-kilovolt transmission line on Piedmont Avenue.
Many businesses were affected by the blackout, which occurred at 10:33 a.m. Power was restored to all customers by about noon, AEP spokeswoman Victoria Ratcliff said.
