Blankenship anniversary

Woodrow and Annie Maye Blankenship of Goodview, Virginia, celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on July 6, 1996, at their home. The couple was united in marriage on July 3, 1937, in Roanoke, Va., in the home of the Elder J. P. Helms and his wife. They have four sons and daughters-in-law, three daughters and sons-in-law, 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is a retired carpenter and brickmason, and she is a homemaker. They are members of Basham Primitive Baptist Church, Stewartsville, Va.

Johnson anniversary

Pete T. and Claudine H. ``Toni'' Johnson celebrated their 60th anniversary on July 4, 1996. The were married July 4, 1936, in Harrisonburg, Va. Mrs. Johnson is the former Claudine Nettie Huddleston. The couple have two children, Pete T. Jr., Roanoke, and Glenda Sue ``Susie'', Montvale, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild. They celebrated at home in Montvale with Pete Jr. and family including granddaughters Eithne and husband Eric Schaefer from Boston; Quendrith and husband Warde Randall and great-grandson Perry from Venice, Calif.; grandson Gregory A. and wife Marium from Atlanta and granddaughter Traci L. Johnson from Atlanta and other family members and friends. Pete retired from Fulton Trucks, Inc., Roanoke, and Toni is a homemaker and wonderful wife, her work is neve done from waiting on me and helping others without fee or reward. Pete and Toni are members of Clearview Baptist Church, Roanoke, and thank the Lord for His goodness in giving us these years together.

Nuckols anniversary

Robert and Martha Nuckols celebrated their 50th anniversary on July 6, 1996. The celebration was held at Hotel Roanoke, hosted by their fami ly. They were married July 6, 1946 in Princeton, Kentucky. They have two daughter, Pamela Foss of Fairfax Station, Va., and Patti Nuckols of Roanoke, Va.; also two grandchildren. They are members of Raleigh Court Methodist Church. Robert is retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital.

Repsher anniversary

Scott and Debra Repsher celebrated their 1st Wedding Anniversary on June 30th 1996 at their home. The couple were married June 30, 1995 in Salem, Virginia, where they have lived for the past year. She is the former Debra Elaine Shores of Roanoke. He is owner/partner of Systems Technology of Virginia, a Robotic Manufacturer, where she is employed part time.

Rule anniversary

Robert and Mae Rule will celebrate their 50th anniversary at a Mass at Ann's Church in Colonial Heights, Virginia, on Saturday, July 13 at 12:00 noon.

The couple was married March 9, 1946 in North Carolina. They lived in Roanoke until 1960 when they moved to Hopewell, and then Chester, Virginia. Mae is the former Mae Edwards.

Their children are Rev. Randy Rule, Pastor of St. Andrew's, Roanoke; Mrs. Deborah Morlock of Moran, Wyoming; and Gary Rule of Chester. They have one granddaughter, Trinity Pope of Moran, Wyoming.

Slusher anniversary

Clinton and Rowena Slusher, of Salem, celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on July 6, 1996 at a dinner party at Hotel Roanoke. Clinton and Rowena have two sons, Lt. Col. George Slusher, U.S.A.F. Ret., and Rev. Steven Slusher; a daughter, Joyce Tolero; a daughter-in-law, Margaret W. Slusher and son-in-law, Ric Tolero; a goddaughter, Patricia M. Walton. They also have three granddaughters; Solare' Tolero, Rebekah Slusher and Marissa Tolero.

Mr. Slusher was Treasurer of Double Envelope Corporation for 37 years and a former Mayor of Salem. Mrs. Slusher is the former Rowena Poff of Radford.

Spangler anniversary

Maxine L. and Pauline E. Spangler celebrated their 50th anniversary on July 1, 1996 at the Roanoke Marriott. Since their marriage in Elmira, N.Y., they have lived in the Roanoke area, and since retirement have wintered in St. Cloud, Fla. They have three children, Jean, Russell and Allen; and 6 grandchildren.

She is the former Pauline Evelyn Lyon. Pauline is a member of O.E.S., Chapter 161 and the Oscelo County Adult Education Club., St. Cloud, Fla. During W.W. II, Max served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. He is retired from New River Electric Inc. and is a member of Taylor Lodge #23, D.C. Shank Royal Arch #31, Bayard Commandry #15, and a retired member of I.B.E.W. #637. They are active members of Ft. Lewis Baptist Church, Salem.

Weckstein anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Weckstein celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 6th, with a reception at Hotel Roanoke. The party was given in their honor by their children and grandchildren for family and friends.

Norb and Gloria were married on June 19, 1946 in Newark, New Jersey. They have live in Roanoke for the past 40 years, courtesy of GE.

They are the proud parents of Cliff and Ginger Weckstein, Dan and Laurie Weckstein, and Barbara and Brett Kaplowitz, and the grandparents of Ginny, Meg, Ben, Andrew, Molly, Timothy, and Scott.

Whorley anniversary

June and Frances Whorley celebrated their 56th anniversary on July 6, 1996. The couple was married July 6, 1940. They have one son, Dr. Larry W. Whorley and wife, Diane; and one granddaughter, Amanda B. Whorley; all of Lexington, Ky. June is retired from the Norfolk and Western Railway.
