McGuire-McWhorter

Ms. Jo Len McWhorter, and Mr. Dana Patrick McGuire were married April 12, 1996, in Winchester, Va. Martha F. Grimm solemnized the 11 AM exchange of Vows.

The bride is the daughter of Mary Ann and Chester L. McWhorter, Sr., and granddaughter of Virgie A. Wills, formerly of Roanoke, Va., Jo Len is a 1983 graduate of Hedgesville High School, Hedgesville, W.Va and attended Shepherd College, Sheperdstown, W.Va.

The groom is the son of Della and Don McGuire of Columbus, Indiana. He is a 1978 graduate of Columbus North High School and a 1983 graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana where he is a member of Phi Theta Delta Fraternity.

Ms. Effie Kallas of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., a friend of the bride was maid of honor.

The bride is the daughter of Carol Camper DiDonna, Roanoke, and John D. Kruger, Comiso, Italy. She graduated from Northside High School, Roanoke, and is employed by Walmart. The groom is the son of Edna Osborne of Roanoke and Lester Osborne of Salem. He graduated from Northside High School, Roanoke, and is employed by Wells Fargo. The newlyweds will live in Roanoke.

Renshaw-Mizeras

Laura Hunt Mizeras and Scott Michael Renshaw were married July 6, 1996 at Colonial Presbyterian Church by Dr. Michael Nevling, Pastor.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Mizeras of Troutville, Va. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Maslen Guild of Tucker, Georgia. Paternal grandparents are the late Vincent W. Mizeras and the late Stella L. Pensmith.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James D. Renshaw, Jr. of Bakersfield, California. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Renshaw of Sun City West, Arizona.

The bride was escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her parents. Honor attendant was Rebekah Carriker of Fairfax, Va. Other attendants were Eric Seligman of Smyrna, Ga.; Michele Turpin of Falls Church, Va.; and Johanna Mirenda of Dalevile, Va.

David Renshaw, brother of the groom of Bakersfield, Calif., served as best man. Groomsmen were Don Burdette of San Francisco, Calif.; George Santana of Los Anageles, Calif.; and Eric Mizeras, brother of the bride, of Anchorage, Alaska. Daniel Mirenda of Daleville, Va., served as candlelighter.

The wedding music was provided by Charlotte Gregor, organist. Betty Sargent was the wedding director. The reception was held at The Roanoke Marriott.

The bride is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and graduated with honors from James Madison University. She received a Master of Library Science degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and is employed as a reference librarian at the Sunnyvale Patent and Trademark Library, Sunnyvale, Calif.

The groom graduated from Gracis High School in Bakersfield, Calif. as Valdicotrian and si a 1989 graduate of Stan ford University, Palo Alton, Calif. He manages the database for Stanford's legal department.

The couple will live in Sunnyvale, Calif.

Seely-Tate

Rachel Elizabeth Tate and Laine Jackson Seely were married on July 6, 1996 in Calvary Baptist Church. The Rev. Donald H. Seely, father of the groom, and the Rev. Amos L. Laine, grandfather of the groom, were the officiating clergymen. The reception was held at the church.

Natalie Tate, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor, and Jessica Koch, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Suzanna Laine, cousin of the groom; Candis Beasley and Laura Dove, friends of the bride. Katy Dail, cousin of the bride, was the flowergirl. Derek Jackson, friend of the groom, was the best man. The ushers were Lloyd Seely and Owen Seely, brothers of the groom; Christopher Laine, cousin of the groom; and Rob Robinson, friend of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Douglas Tate, Jr. of Pittsburgh, Pa., and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chapman D. Tate and Ruth H. Wright, of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman's College and is employed by SAS Institute. The groom is the son of Rev. and Mrs. Donald H. Seely of Portsmouth, Va. He is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College and is employed by Bell-South Mobility DCS.

Following the wedding trip to Bermuda, the newlyweds will reside in Cary, North Carolina.

Jaime Alayne Bannwart and Donald Owen Shelton, Jr., were married on July 6, 1996 in Roanoke College's Antrim Chapel. The Reverend Dr. Charles W. Easley was the officiating clergyman. The reception was held in the Roanoke College Ballroom.

Stephanie Krause Conner and Elizabeth Hunziker Correll, friends of the bride, served as matrons of honor. The bridesmaid was Michelle Brooks, friend of the bride. Katie Lynn Jeffrey, cousin of the bride, was the flowergirl.

Col. Donald J. Bean, father of the groom, served as best man. The ushers were Thomas B. Bannwart, brother of the bride; and Basil Conner, friend of the groom. Christine Witter, cousin of the bride, was the guestbook attendant.

The bride is the daughter of Col. and Mrs. James L. Bannwart of Manassas, Va. She is a graduate of Robinson High School in Fairfax, and Roanoke College in Salem. She is employed by Brandon Oaks Retirement Community.

The groom is the son of Col. and Mrs. Donald J. Bean of Salem. He is a graduate of Salem High School in Salem. and is employed by Heat Products Sales, Inc.

After the wedding trip to Nova Scotia, the newlyweds will reside in Roanoke.

Shephard-Leonard

Virginia Ellen Leonard was married Saturday, July 6, 1996, to Mr. Robert Daniel Shephard. The marriage was performed at the West Liberty State College Interfaith Chapel in West Liberty, West Virginia, by the brother-in-law of the bride, the Reverend Steve R. Gordy of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Margare t Breining Leonard of Nashville, Tennessee and the late Col. Robert John Leonard. Her grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Breining and the late Mr. and Mrs. Howard Leonard of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Shephard is the son of Mrs. Irene Buck Shephard and the late Robert (Jack) Shephard of Vinton, Virginia. His grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. James Wharton Buck and the late Mr. and Mrs. Othur Greely Shephard.

The bride wore a two piece tea length dress of ivory silk crepe with peach silk trim, accented by a picture hat adorned with a peach rose and pearls, and carried a bouquet of ivory oceana roses with pearls.

Mrs. Patricia Leonard Gordy served as matron of honor. Readers in the service were Mrs. Margaret Leonard-Martin and Mrs. Rita O'Kane Wiseman. The bride was escorted by Mr. John O'Kane of Bellaire, Ohio.

Mr. Shephard's best man was his brother, Tim Shephard of Salem, Virginia. The ushers were Robert Johnson and Steven Libman.

Mr. Alfred DeJaager of West Liberty State College played the organ and Mr. Scott Schwertzfeger of Bethany College and Mnt. DeChantal Visitation Academy played a guitar solo.

Mrs. Shephard graduated from Waynesburg College, University of Pittsburgh, and West Virginia University and is a Professor of English at West Liberty State College. Mr. Shephard graduated from North Carolina Wesleyan College and Virginia Tech and is the Assistant Director of Planned Giving at Florida State University Foundation, Tallahassee.

A wedding trip includes travel through the Smoky Mountains, Calloway Gardens, and the Biltmore Estate on route to Tallahassee.

Smith-Shiner

The marriage of Miss Elizabeth Thure Shiner, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Philip Thompson Shiner of Roanoke, to Jeffrey Mark Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Elbert Smith of Harrisonburg, took place Saturday, July 6, 1996, at six o'clock in the evening at Windsor Hills United Methodist Church in Roanoke. The Rev. D. Michael Meloy, District Superintendent, Pen insula District, officiated, assisted by Father Timothy E. Keeney, North American College, Rome, Italy.

The bride was escorted by her father and supported in marriage by her parents. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Charles Turman Williams of Richmond, and the late Mr. Williams, the late Mr. Sten Thure Nystrom, Jr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Thompson Shiner. She is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and the College of William and Mary and is a benefits representative with Capital One Financial Corporation in Richmond. The groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Lee Wright, Sr. of Springfield, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Gray Smith of Rock Hill, South Carolina. He is a graduate of Harrisonburg High School and James Madison University and is a site manager for Capital One.

Miss Allyson Ayn Armstrong of Roanoke, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Christine Lynne Hunter and Alicia Kathleen Walsh of Richmond; and Michelle Franklin Pizarro of Greensboro, North Carolina. Lauren Michelle Parker and Lisa Christine Parker of Virginia Beach, were junior bridesmaids.

Mr. Smith, father of the groom, and Douglas Wright Smith, brother of the groom, were best men. Groomsmen were Keith Thompson Shiner of Lexington; Kenton Ernest Shiner and Mark William Shiner of Roanoke, brothers of the bride; David Christopher Derrick of Galveston, Texas; Scott Lee Garber and Russell Wood Jordan, IV of Richmond. Matthew Stenten Scott of Richmond; and Kent Shiner were readers.

The dinner reception was held at the Hotel Roanoke. Following a honeymoon in Maine, the couple will reside in Richmond.

Wade-Smith

Peggy Lynn Smith and John Ray Wade, Jr., were married June 1, 1996, in West Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Slaughter officiating. The reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. Bridesmaids were Tiffany Wade and Ashley Wade, daughters of groom. Best man was Zachary Wade, son of groom. The bride was escorted by her son, Michael Smith . The bride is the daughter of David and Sandy Haselton, Salem, Va. She is a graduate of Biloxi High School, Biloxi, Miss., and is employed by Allstate Ins. Co. The groom is the son of John Ray and Connie Wade, Roanoke. He graduated from William Fleming, Roanoke, and is employed by McDonalds. The newlywed will live in Roanoke County after a Caribbean cruise.

Weaver-Deisher

Pamela Lee Deisher and William Robert Weaver were married June 1, 1996 in The Wedding Chapel. The Reverend C. Sherwood Spence was the officiating clergyman. The reception was held at the home of Philip and Linda Deisher. The bride was escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Jessica Erin Bronson, niece, was the flowergirl.

The bride wore a gown of white lace which was adorned with pearls. It featured a sweetheart neckline, fitted sleeves and a semi cathedral train. She carried a cascading bouquet of pink and white silk roses.

The bride is the daughter of Philip and Linda Deisher of Troutville, Va. She is a graduate of Lord Botetourt High School in Daleville, Va.

The groom is the son of John Thomas and Shirley Weaver of Radford, Va. He is a graduate of Radford High School and is self employed.

The newlyweds reside in Radford, Va.

Whalen-Cook

Irene Lenore Cook and Peter Melvin Whalen were united in marriage on May 25, 1996, at Walnut Grove Union Church in Montvale, Va. Minister Douglas Tate officiated the ceremony.

Pam Karnes, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. The bride's niece, Joy Burke, and her good friend, Karen Towns, were bridesmaids. Jason Whalen, brother of the groom, served as best man. Walter King and Richie Frank, friends of the groom, were ushers.

Irene is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Cook of Villamont, Va. She is a graduate of Liberty High School and Radford University. Peter is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Whalen of Goode, Va., and is a graduate of Liberty High School and Radford University.

After a wedding trip to historic Charleston, S. C., the couple is making their home in Bedford, Va.

Julie Renee Cahill and John Norman Worley were married June 29, 1996, in Green Ridge Baptist Church, Roanoke, Va., with Dr. J. Michael Palmer, Pastor, officiating. The reception was held in the fellowship hall at the church. The maid of honor was Iris Womack, best friend of bride. Burcham-Hightower

Leigh Ann Hightower and Clifton Dale Burcham were united in Christian marriage on July 6, 1996, at First Baptist Church of Roanoke. The ceremony was performed by Rev. John Ott and Rev. Charles Ward.

Leigh Ann is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hightower of Vinton. Clif is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Burcham of Roanoke. The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Amy Hightower, sister of the bride, and Julie Reed, friend of the bride, both of Vinton, were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Amanda Pagans, Shawna Kidd and Valerie Glynn of Roanoke, and Robin Amos of Hardy. Flower girls were Lauren Smith and Katie Richardson.

Leonard Burcham, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Mark Burcham of Richmond, brother of the groom, Robert Miilu of Kenosha, Wisconsin, brother-in-law of the groom, Jason Tanner, Keith Camper and Robbie Camper of Roanoke.

A program of wedding music was presented by Susan Houston, organist/pianist. Solos by Dale Moats and the Coburns. The guestbook was attended by Naomi Simmons and Erin Coburn. The wedding director was Sheila Granger. The reception was held in the Atrium. Wedding and bridal portraits by Barry Brooks.

Leigh Ann attends Virginia Western Community College and is employed by Parkway Physicians. Clif is employed by Fink's Jewelers-Downtown. After a Caribbean honeymoon, the couple will make their home in Roanoke.

Canaday-Loy

Jacquelyn Marie Loy returned to Sweet Briar College, Sweet Briar, Va., to marry her college sweetheart, Brian Scott Canaday, a graduate of VMI. The couple met at a concert held at Sweet Briar College in April 1992.

Jacquelyn graduated from Sweet Briar with a B.A. degree in Dance and English in 1993, and Brian received a B.S.M.E. in the same year. He is currently a project engineer with Burlington Industries, Forest City, N.C.

The ceremony was held in the chapel at Sweet Briar College and was officiated by Reverend Robert Barrows. Music was provided by Vicky Hubbard, organist, and the chamber ensemble, R.S.V.P. The reception took place at the Wailes Center on the college campus.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Carroll Loy of Burlington, N.C., and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Henderson Turner of Catawba, Va., and Mr. William Harlan Canaday of Montross Va.

The bridal party consisted of Amy Edwards Owen, matron of honor, and Michelle Gibbs, maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Tracy Ball, step-sister of groom, Tanya Gupta, Steffanie Keck, Dana Montgomery Tapp and Whitney Smith who served as junior bridesmaid. The flower girl was Jessica Law, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Law. Wedding director was Mr. Phil Bray of Burlington, North Carolina.

The groom chose Jon Casarotti to be his best man. Brandon and Christopher Canaday, brothers of the groom, and Bo Loy, brother of the bride, were groomsmen, along with Steve Walker and Michael Wysong. James Law, brother of the flower girl, acted as ring bearer.

Resplendent in a halter style bodice embellished with pearls and fine gold embroidery, the bride carried a cascade of lilies, roses and gardenias. Her train was of silk shantung edged in pearls. The gown was offset by a unique medieval-style headpiece decorated with pearls and gold rosettes with the edge of the veil trimmed in gold.

After a wedding trip to Bermuda, the couple will reside in Forest City, N. C.

Chernault-Musselman

Rhonda Gayle Musselman and Christopher David Chernault were married June 8, 1996 in Calvary Baptist Church. Pastor O. D. Morgan was the officiating clergyman. The reception was held at the University Club Blacksburg.

Tammy Blackburn, friend of the bride, was the maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Stephanie Musselman, sister of the bride; Amanda Gardner, Kelly Hayes and Lesley Nester, friends of the bride. Sasha Willard, cousin of the bride, was the flowergirl.

Geoffrey Chernault, brother of the groom, served as best man. The ushers were George Chernault, father of the groom; Bob Young, uncle of the groom; Robert Chernault, brother of the groom; and Richard Dunsford, godfather of the groom. Allan Micheal Howell, nephew of the groom, was the ringbearer.

The guestbook attendants were Tracy Blackburn and Amanda Harkrader. Pianist was Ms. Deone Shaffer of Radford. Duets were sung by Mrs. Maria Hall of Roanoke, and Mrs. Suzanne Nelson of Christiansburg, sister of the groom. Trumpet voluntary played by Gerald Pope of Roanoke. Music at the reception was provided by The Brass Five of Roanoke. Special thanks to Chris and Lynn Strange, who directed the wedding.

The bride is the daughter of Teddy and Connie Musselman of Radford. She is a graduate of Radford High School and the Radford City School of Pratical Nursing. She is employed by Pulaski Health Care Center.

The groom is the son of George and Elizabeth Chernault of Radford. He is a graduate of Radford High School and is attending New River Community College. He is employed by Richfield Nursing Center.

After their wedding trip to Williamsburg, the newlyweds reside in Christiansburg.

Dalton-Saunders

Maryanne Saunders and Timothy Edward Dalton were married at 3 p.m. on June 22, 1996, in Beaverdam Baptist Church in Chamblissburg, Va. The Rev. John Franklin, II was the officiating clergyman. Music was presented by Alan Gentry and Lisa Hall. The organist was Kaye Gregory.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. The matron of honor was Laura Gross, sister of the bride, of Bedford. The bridesmaids were Rhonda Goode and Kristie Hancock, both of Huddleston, and Lisa Hall of Danville. Autumn Saunders was the flowergirl.

Dean Hyler, friend, of Brosville, served as best man. The groomsmen were David Saunders of Bedford, Stephen Saunders of Moneta, and Andrew Dalton of Danville. Michael Gross was the ringbearer.

The bride is the daughter of Hugh and Rachel Saunders of Moneta. She is a graduate of Staunton River High School in Moneta, and is attending Averett College.

The groom is the son of Michael and Connie Dalton of Danville. He is a graduate of Dan River High School and is employed by Times Fiber Communications in Chatham, Va.

Following the wedding trip to Florida, the newlyweds reside in Danville, Va.

Dicks-Daugherty

Amy Karen Daugherty and Robert Leon Dicks, Jr., were married June 29 on the grounds of New Dublin Presbyterian Church in Dublin. The Reverend Joseph Greene officiated. A reception was held at the church following the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald E. Daugherty of Vinton. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Dicks, Sr., of Fredericksburg.

Cristina Davis of Charlottesville was maid of honor, and matron of honor was Carol D. Guthrie, sister of the bride. Bridesmaid was Sharon Belue of Vinton.

Brian Johnson of Richmond was best man. Groomsmen were Paul Daugherty of Vinton, brother of the bride, and Craig Nunemaker of Richmond.

After a wedding trip to Ireland, the couple will live in Richmond, where they are both employed.

Doorn-Patterson

Carol Jane Patterson and Eric van Doorn were married on June 1, 1996 in an outdoor ceremony at Windy Oaks Inn, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The Rev. Arvid Straube officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Patterson of Vinton. She is a Post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the Yale School of Medicine, New Haven, Connecticut.

The groom is the son of Ms. Gijsberta W. van den Berg of Breukelen, The Netherlands and Mr. Marten van Doorn of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He will receive a Ph.D. in Physics from Duke University in the fall of 1996.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a floor-length gown of white Dupioni silk featuring a sleeveless bodice which was accented with a cummerbund and a V-neckline in back. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white roses, white tulips, and blue delphiniums.

Matron of honor was Leigh Friedman, sister of the bride. Lynn Nonnemaker, friend of the couple, was bridesmaid.

Dan Cronin-Hennessy, friend of the couple, served as best man; and Kunal Pujara, friend of the groom, and David Friedman, brother-in-law of the bride, ushered.

Wedding music was provided by Robert Patterson, Jr., brother of the bride. Classical guitar music was presented prior to the ceremony and for the processional and recessional. The guest book was attended by Shannon and Dan Thorpe.

Following the ceremony, the bride's parents entertained at a luncheon reception at Windy Oaks Inn. Music was furnished by the Larry Hutcherson Band.

The couple honeymooned at Kiawah Island, South Carolina. They will make their home in New Haven, Connecticut.

Gentry-Muterspaugh

Sherry Muterspaugh and Jerry Leamon Gentry were married May 4, 1996 in the Church of Christ, Salem, Va. Jim Herron was the officiating clergyman. The reception was held at the Church.

Debbie Lowry, sister, was the matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Rebecca Duncan, daughter, and Andrea Gentry, daughter-in-law. Kelsey Gentry, granddaughter, was the flowergirl. Michael Gentry served as his father's best man. The ushers were Buddy Pleasant, nephew, and Robert Hudson, friend. The ringbearers were Dalton Duncan and Skyler Gentry, grandsons. Danielle Spangler was the guestbook attendant.

The bride is the daughter of George and Shirley Muterspaugh of Salem. Va. She is employed by the Va. Medical Center in Salem, Va. The groom is the son of William and Melvin Gentry of Providence, N.C. He is employed by Virginia Transformer Corp. of Roanoke, Va.

Following the wedding trip to Disney World, Florida, the newlyweds will reside in Roanoke.

Grubb-Harvey

Miss Anna Maria Harvey and Mr. Randolph Eugene Grubb were united in marriage June 1, 1996 at Hic kory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, N.C. Dr. Joe B. Brown officiated the double ring candlelight communion ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fred Harvey, Sr. of Moncks Corner, S.C. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ernest Hill, Sr. of Moncks Corner, S.C. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Wayne Grubb, Sr. of Salem, Va. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Umberger of Salem, Va., and Mrs., Virginia Grubb of Salem, Va.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a formal length gown of candlelight satin with re-embroidered alencon lace, embellished with seed pearls and sequins. She carried a bouquet of cascading stephanotis, roses, calla lilies and orchids. White lace handkerchiefs from the late Mrs. C. Fred Harvey, grandmother of the bride, and the late Mrs. James W. Wilson, great-grandmother of the bride, the late Mrs. Frank H. Umberger and the late Mrs. John K. Grant, great-grandmothers of the groom, adorned the ring bearers' pillows.

Serving the bride as matron of honor was Mrs. Pamela H. Dulude of Moncks Corner, S.C., sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Rita Berry of Summerville, S.C., Ms. Shelly turner of Greenville, S.C., Ms. Catherine Kozminski of Charlotte, N.C., and Ms. Rhonda McLain of Charlotte, N.C.

Mr. Jerry Wayne Grubb, Sr. of Salem, Va., served his son as best man. The groomsmen were Mr. Jerry W. Grubb, Jr. of Salem, Va., brother of the groom; Mr. Garrett Eckert of Charlotte, N.C., Mr. Scott Johnston of Richmond, Va., and Mr. John Meador of Salem, Va. Junior groomsman was Master Michael Dulude of Moncks Corner, S.C., nephew of the bride. Master Mark Dulude of Moncks Corner, S.C., nephew of the bride, and Master Matthew Grubb of Salem, Va., nephew of the groom, served as ring bearers.

Mrs. Grubb is a graduate of Clemson University and is employed by Crum and Forster in Charlotte, N.C. Mr. Grubb attended UNC-Charlotte and heads Townside Construction Co, Inc. in Charlotte, N.C.

After a honeymoon trip to San Francisco and Napa Valley, California, the couple will live in Charlotte, N.C.

Hunter-Mistele

The marriage of Miss Michelle Andree Mistele of Richmond, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Mistele of Roanoke, to Parks DeArmon Hunter III of Richmond, son of Mrs. Barbara McNaught Hunter of Greensboro, NC and the late Parks DeArmon Hunter, Jr., took place May 11, 1996 at St. Gerard's Catholic Church in Roanoke. The Reverend Wayne L. Ball of Roanoke officiated, assisted by the Reverend Henry B. Grant of Ames, Iowa.

The bride's two sisters, Nicole D enise Mistele of Orlando, FL and Danielle Helene Mistele of Greenwich, CT were her maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Kristin Elizabeth Hunter, sister of the groom, of Charlotte, NC, Laura Nelson Camp of Miami, FL, Shelley Beth November of Richmond, Melissa Carel Tolbert of San Francisco, CA, and Pamela Compton Wright of Moscow, ID.

John Nathan Hunter of Charlotte, NC and Evan Jerome Hunter of Atlanta, GA were their brother's best men. Groomsmen were Gregory Paul Mistele, brother of the bride, of Durham, NC, John Allen Crook IV of Roanoke, Theodore Joseph Davies of New York, NY, Jonathan Thomas Lee of Chicago, IL, and Newell Smith Price, Jr. of Greensboro, NC.

Readings were presented by William H. Mistele, Jr., Thomas Michael Mistele, and Peter Gregory Mistele, brothers of the bride. Guitarist was Timothy Patrick Mistele, brother of the bride. Flutist was Meredith Andersen Hunter, sister-in-law of the groom. Soloists were Daniel Joseph Keeley and Joseph John Sgroi, friends of the bride's family.

The bride is a graduate of Northside High School and the University of Virginia. The groom graduated from Page High School in Greensboro, Duke University, and received an MBA from Columbia University.

A reception was held at the Hotel Roanoke. After a honeymoon to Kona, Hawaii, and Northern California, the couple returned to their home in Richmond.

Hurt-Ashley

Jennifer Lauren Ashley and Michael Dewey Hurt were married July 6, 1996, in Wrexham Hall, Chesterfield, Va., with Rev. Tommy Hurt, brother of the groom, officiating. The reception was also held at Wrexham Hall. The maid of honor was Elizabeth Ashley, sister of bride. Bridesmaids were Laura Magruder, Emily Franklin, Jen DiVello, Shani Seidel, Val Miller, friends of the bride. Flower girl was Samantha Hurt, niece of the groom. Tommy Hurt, father of the groom, served as best man. Ushers included Brian Murdock, Scott Goodman, Dave Walls, Chris Taylor, Dave Miller, friends of the groom, and Brian Hurt, Jamie Hurt, Josh Hurt, Justin Hurt, brothers of the groom. The ring bearer was Derek Hurt, nephew of groom. Train bearer was Dylon Hurt, nephew of groom, and guestbook attendant was Amy Helton. Tammy Hurt was wedding director. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Ashley, Midlothian, Va. She graduated from Great Bridge High School, Chesapeake, Va., and graduated from Virginia Tech in 1996. She is employed by Montgomery County, Md. Public Schools as a teacher. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Hurt, Vinton, Va. He graduated from Roanoke Valley Christian School, Roanoke, Va., and graduated from Virginia Tech in 1996. He is employed by Micro Modeling and Associates as a computer consultant. The newlyweds will live in Gaithersburg, Md., after a wedding trip to the Bahamas and Disney World.

Johoske-Johnson

Victoria Lynne Johnson and Dana Lynn Johoske were married on June 8, 1996, in an outdoor ceremony at Bernard's Landing Resort on Smith Mountain Lake. Richard Wood, Magistrate, officiated at the ceremony. The reception was held at Bernard's Landing Resort Clubhouse.

Phyllis Dudley Johnson, sister-in-law of the bride, was the matron of honor. Casey Danielle Johnson, niece of the bride, was the flowergirl. Richard Johoske served as his son's best man. Korden Cherven, nephew of the groom, was the ringbearer. The guestbook was attended by Patricia Irvin, friend of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of Margaret Bray Johnson of Rocky Mount. She is a graduate of Franklin County High School and is Vice President of Sales/Marketing for Little Caesars Pizza.

The groom is a son of Richard Johoske of Roscommon, Michigan. He is a graduate of Roscommon High School and is owner of C-Splicing, Inc.

The newlyweds live at Smith Mountain Lake after the wedding trip to St. Lucia. The couple would like to thank their families and friends for all their love and support.

Karnowski-Short

Dana Jo Short and Thomas Paul Karnowski were married May 25, 1996 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church , Knoxville, Tenn., with Fr. Rick Walsh, CSP, officiating. The reception was held in the Parish Hall.

Maid of honor was Jeanmarie Short, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Kimberly Adams and Elizabeth Pamplin, friends.

Best man was Gary Harmon, friend. The ushers were Thomas Hash and James Dalton, friends. The guestbook was attended by Jennifer Smith.

The bride is the daughter of Clarence R. and Linda I. Short of Roanoke. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is employed by Overlook Mental Health Center.

The groom is the son of F.G. and Christine Karnowski of Alcoa, Tenn. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and North Carolina State in Raleigh. He is employed by Lockheed-Martin.

The newlyweds will live in Knoxville, Tennessee, after their wedding trip to Negril, Jamaica.
