The West lost its best chance to upset the East in boys' basketball because of outside shooting.
The East, which usually dominates the inside of the Virginia High School Coaches Association all-star game, hit 13 3-point shots on the way to a 101-93 victory at the Hampton Coliseum.
It was the East's sixth consecutive victory and 13th in the past 15 years in this series.
Kecoughtan's Marseilles Brown, headed to the University of Richmond, scored 28 points, including four 3-pointers, as he claimed East most valuable player honors. Teammate James Morse of Hopewell added 15 points.
Rashad Wall of Laurel Park, a late addition in place of Bobby Wimbush of George Washington-Danville, was the West most valuable player with 11 points, including four field goals as his team outscored the East 30-19 in the second quarter.
It was a big night for Timesland players as Northside's Justin Porterfield and William Byrd's Chris Childress, a pair of Blue Ridge District standouts, combined for 26 points. William Fleming's James Stokes added 13 points, including eight in the final quarter.
Two players fans are sure to hear more about in the coming years had good spurts. Virginia-bound Colin Ducharme of Douglas Freeman in Richmond had 10 points in the fourth quarter.
Rolan Roberts of Potomac, headed to Virginia Tech, had 12 points for the West.
