Police gave this account:

About 9:40 p.m., a man walked up to the counter of the Village Store at 3902 Melrose Ave. N.W. and demanded $100. The man pulled up his T-shirt and showed a knife, repeating his demand. The clerk took money from the cash register and gave it to the robber, who fled.
