BLACKSBURG CHURCH CONNECTS AGAIN WITH CHICAGO YOUTHS

Members of Blacksburg Presbyterian Church recently hosted a group of young people from Chicago for a weekend of swimming, fun and fellowship, continuing a partnership with church members from that city since 1983.

The group swam in local pools, tubed on the New River, and attended picnics and services during its busy weekend.

The yearly tradition started when members of the church's youth group traveled to Chicago in 1983 to help renovate a hotel to be used for homeless and destitute families. Since 1991 young people from Chicago have visited Blacksburg, staying with host families, and their yearly visit has become a highlight for them, they say.
