The music of horns and percussion instruments will fill Salem Stadium Aug. 9 at 7:30 p.m. when The 1996 Summer Music Games of Southwest Virginia presents a world-class drum and bugle corps competition.
Winners will travel to Walt Disney World to compete in the world championship. The 1995 winners, the Cavaliers from Illinois, will highlight the show.
Corps are judged on the execution of their music and their visual drills.
Joining the Cavaliers will be six-time world champions The Cadets of New Jersey. Other performances include groups from Ohio, Florida, Seattle and Ontario, Canada.
Tickets ($12 for reserved seating) are on sale with the Salem Band Boosters and at the Salem Civic Center box office (375-3004).
