Phil Grundy pitched a three-hit shutout as the Wilmington Blue Rocks completed a three-game sweep of the Salem Avalanche with a 3-0 victory Sunday afternoon.
Grundy (4-9) struck out nine and walked two in a complete-game effort. Garrett Neubart, Tal Light and Pookie Jones had the only hits for Salem (13-21).
Avalanche starter Steve Shoemaker (1-4) allowed three runs on four hits in a losing effort. He struck out eight and walked five.
Donovan Delaney was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI for Wilmington (21-14), which had six hits.
The Blue Rocks scored twice in the second and once in the fifth. Ramey Brooks and Delaney singled home runs in the second and Delaney doubled home Brooks in the fifth.
Salem is off today before playing a doubleheader Tuesday at Frederick to kick off a four-game series against the Keys.
Salem outfielder John Giudice, who was batting .291 with a team-high 16 home runs and 65 RBI, was promoted to Class AA New Haven along with left-handed pitcher Mike Kusiewicz.
