Roanoke police have identified a man who apparently jumped to his death from the Municipal Parking Garage.
Jason Daniel Hubbard, 21, of Rocky Mount was found dead in a Kirk Avenue parking lot about 10:30 p.m. Monday by a man who was on his way home from work.
Hubbard's identity remained a mystery until Thursday, when Roanoke police learned that he had been reported missing from his home. After getting a description of Hubbard and his pickup truck, police found the vehicle on the second level of the Church Avenue garage.
Police said they found evidence in the truck confirming that Hubbard took his life, but declined to elaborate. It was not clear from which part of the nine-story garage Hubbard jumped.
Hubbard, who died of head injuries, was identified by a family member Thursday afternoon.
Police also reported that a 19-year-old woman was robbed Thursday morning while withdrawing cash from an automatic teller machine in Southwest Roanoke. Jennifer Hanger told police that a man approached her about 1 a.m. on Grandin Road, grabbed her purse and fled. Hanger, who held on to her cash and car keys during the incident, was not injured.
