The Daily Press newspaper and Portsmouth television station WAVY have created a partnership to share news reports and jointly produce some programs.
The media companies said the agreement will allow them to expand their local coverage and develop new sources of information, such as the Internet.
Edward L. Munson Jr., WAVY's president and general manager, said the station will be able to capitalize on the newspaper staff's size and strength and add depth to its news broadcasts.
The newspaper and TV station plan a daily exchange of information on stories. They may work on some stories together or credit each other on stories. WAVY has been reporting Peninsula stories from the Daily Press' newsroom for five years.
WAVY and the Daily Press also will link to each other's sites on the Internet and share on-line information.
