TAMARA DENEE HASH, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Hash of Roanoke, has qualified as a state finalist in the 11th annual Miss American Preteen Pageant to be held Aug. 17 and 18 in Richmond.
THE ROANOKE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA AND ROANOKE VALLEY CHORAL SOCIETY have announced new officers and directors of the Roanoke Symphony Society, its governing board, for the 1996-97 year. Officers elected to a one-year term are: Frank C. Martin III, president; Robert M. Auman, vice president, personnel committee chairman; James A. Ford, vice president, Bravo circle chairman; Mark S. Lawrence, vice president, development committee chairman; Marjorie Murray, secretary; John R. "Jake" Mays, treasurer; Donald A. Branham, assistant treasurer; Margaret Thacker, Roanoke Symphony Volunteer Association; Mary S. Neal, Friends of the RSO; Susanna Kibler, New River Valley Friends of the RSO; Walter Gregory, Roanoke Valley Choral Society president; and Patricia L. Avise, executive director.
Elected to three-year terms are James W. Arend, William Downey, Lynn H. Meyer, Judith Perfater, Sally Rugaber, Richard A. Ungerer and Paula Vail.
Elected to two-year terms: James A. Ford, Connie Giesen, Joyce Jaeger, Richard Maxwell, Charles A. Saldarini and Dr. Edwin Williams.
DAVID CURTIS, professor of art and art program head at Virginia Western Community College, has been selected as a Fulbright Exchange Teacher to represent the United States in England.
Curtis will teach during the 1996-97 academic year at Southport College, Southport, Meyerside, England.
