A limited survey of Roanoke-area employers found that nearly 25 percent expect to hire during the October-December quarter. The survey by Manpower Inc. found that 6 percent of employers plan layoffs and the rest plan no change.
Most job opportunities will be in construction, trade and services, the company said.
Manpower of Milwaukee, Wis., refuses to say how many local employers it interviews for its quarterly forecast, but says 16,000 are polled in 484 cities nationwide.
