BROWN, LaRue Ware, of Route 5, Box 282, Bedford, departed this life on Monday, September 2, 1996, in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Clarence Aldoph Brown. She is survived by one daughter, Lillian Thomas of Bedford; one son-in-law, Henry Thomas of Bedford; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 6, 1996, at 1 p.m., at the Bedford Funeral Home Chapel, Bedford. Int erment will follow in the Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery, Big Island. CONNELLY, Henry Dickey, 89, of Bristol, died Monday, September 2, 1996, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Bristol and a graduate of Blackstone Military Academy in Blackstone, and attended Virginia Tech. He was a retired dealer for Standard Oil Company for 39 years, and was a former member of the Bristol Rotary Club. He was a member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, where he was a member of the church council and financial secretary for the church for several years. Survivors include his wife, Mozelle H. Connelly; one daughter, Sarah Connelly Robertson of Martinsville; one son, Joseph Dickey Connelly of Kingsport, Tenn.; one sister, Alma C. Petersen of Los Angeles, Calif.; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; two stepgrandsons; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the graveside in Mountain View Cemetery with Pastor Glenn L. London officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 672 Island Road, Bristol, Va. 24201. DUTY, Homer Hopkins,of Roanoke, 67, passed away Friday, August 30, 1996. He is survived by his wife, Anne Roberts Duty; his son, Bryan H. Duty; daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy J. and Thomas M. Atkins, and beloved granddaughter, Drewry Ann Atkins. He is also survived by his sisters, Alice Bade, Martha Woodlief and Nora B. Davis, and his brothers, David L. Duty, A. Patrick Duty , and George Duty. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member of Colonial Avenue Baptist Church. A memorial service for friends and family is to be held at Colonial Avenue Baptist Church on Saturday, September 7, 1996, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Branan Thompson and the Rev. EDDINS, Donald Rice, Sr., 79, of Roanoke, died Monday, September 2, 1996, in a Salem hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy H. Sr. and Eva R. Eddins, and one son, Donald R. Eddins Jr. Mr. Eddins served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was retired from the N&W Railway as assistant station superintendent with 40 years service. Surviving are his beloved wife of 55 years, Ferne Young Eddins, and a brother, Guy H. Eddins of Roanoke. Funeral services will be at Oakey's North Chapel at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 1996, with the Rev. R. W. Young and the Rev. Page A. Young officiating. FOUTZ, Russell J., (``Russ""), 88, of Bonsack, died Monday, September 2, 1996, at Friendship Manor. He was a member of Bonsack Baptist Church since age 12. Mr. Foutz was a member of Vinton Lodge #204 A.F.&A.M., serving as Worshipful Master in 1954. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in France, Belgium and Italy. He was retired from the Norfolk and Western Railway, and was predeceased by his wife, Edith Brizentine Foutz, and a granddaughter, Jenifer B. Foutz. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Roger Dale and Helen B. Foutz, and a grandson, Christopher Lynn Foutz, all of Salem; twin sister, Ruby Foutz Hudgins of Bonsack; nephews, James K. Rader and Garrett F. Hudgins of Roanoke, and nieces, Martha Foutz Harris of Boston, Mass., and Barbara Foutz Brubaker of Reston. Thanks to special friends, Eleanor Cadd, Mary Harris and Faye Trout. Funeral services will be conducted fro Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 5, with the Rev. Dr. Robert G. Moore III and the Rev. John W. Ashley officiating. GALLOWAY, Chattie Rae, 89, of Eden, North Carolina passed away Sunday, September 1, 1996 at Moorehead Memorial Nursing Center, following a lengthy illness. She was born to the late Charlie and Mammie Waddell, Leaksville, N.C. on October 17, 1906. She was the widow of the late Murphy E. Galloway and resided in Eden, North Carolina where she did domestic work until her health failed her. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Springfield Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by her beloved step daughter, Captola Smith, Reedsville, N.C.; 3 step sons, Fred L. Galloway, Roanoke, Murphy Galloway Jr., Eden, N.C. and Jesse W. Galloway, Stoneville, N.C.; 8 grandsons; 7 granddaughters; 7 great-grandsons; 10 great-granddaughters; 2 brothers, Rev. Rush Waddell, Lawrence (Jack) Waddell, both of Eden, N.C.; a very special devoted niece, Barbara Waddell Pugh, of Eden, N.C.; also a host of nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 4, 12 noon, Galloway Funeral Home Chapel, Eden, N.C. A wake service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. GUARINO, Rose, 88, of Blacksburg, died Monday, September 2, 1996 at Heritage Hall. She is survived by her husband, Albert Guarino, Blacksburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Albert T. and Gloria Guarino, Christiansburg; a daughter, Josephine Baxter, Long Island, N.Y., six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. HAGA, Carolene Cale, 54, of Chilhowie, died Tuesday, September 3, 1996, in the Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion. She was a member of the Marion Church of God on Matson Drive, and was employed with the Keen Mountain Correctional Center in Oakwood, as a nurse. She is survived by her husband, Bobby L. Haga of Chilhowie; one daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Gary Gilley of Marion; two grandchildren, Cody and Kellie Gilley of Marion; her father, Noah Victor Cale of Marion; her mother, Marie Russell Cale of Marion; two sisters, Imogene Cale and Linda Hamm, both of Marion; three brothers, Robert Cale of Charleston, S.C., Richard and Roy Cale, both of Marion; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 5, 1996, at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Jerry Alley and Rev. J. T. Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. JOHNSTON, Clarke Daniel, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, September 2,1996, at his home. Born on July 29, 1901, in Moneta, Bedford County, to the late Elmer L. and Laura F. Johnston, he was the fifth of nine children. After high school, he moved to Roanoke, where he worked for Richardson-Wayland Electric Corp. for 25 years. He founded Johnston-Vest Electric Corp. in 1945, which he owned until he retired at age 75 in 1976. He was a past member of the Williamson Road Lions Club and the Roanoke Rotary Club. He was a member of Lakeland Lodge #190, A.F.&A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, Kazim Shrine Temple, and a life member of Elks Lodge #197, Roanoke. He was a longtime member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of over 70 years, Ruby Sisson Johnston; three daughters, Nancy L. Thomson (Mrs. David A.), Alice J. Callison and Alleene J. Dalzell (Mrs. Thomas J.); five grandchildren, Judith A. Callison, Florida, Jane C. Scaggs, Georgia, Suzanne T. Warner, Bedford, Nancy T. Wells, Culpeper, and Patrick O. Dalzell, Atlanta, Ga.; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; a sister, Rebecca J. Tompkins, Roanoke; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Thursday from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, with the Rev. Robert L. Watts, the Rev. Walter M. Lockett and the Rev. Jeffrey L. Dorsey officiating. MORGAN, Cynthia Johnson, of Richmond, formerly of Roanoke, departed this life on Saturday, August 31, 1996, in Richmond. Cynthia was preceded in death by her father, James ``Rod'' Johnson. She will be dearly missed by her mother, Beatrice Johnson; son and daughter-in-law, Darin Uwezo and DeAnna Morgan, all of Roanoke; also two brothers, Demetrius Johnson, Charlotte, N.C., Tyrone Johnson, Virginia Beach; a niece, Alexandra Brevard, Upper Marlboro, Md.; aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Davidson, Tampa, Fla.; a special brother who was also her best friend and devoted caregiver, Wilson T. Price, Roanoke; brothers, Frederick W. Price Sr., Roanoke, the Rev. Jack M. D. Price, Richmond, Lawrence E. Price Sr., Merritt Island, Fla.; a special cousin, Reva Overacre; dear friends that she looked upon as brothers, John B. Kinker Jr., Petersburg, Gene H. Ellis, Roanoke, Claude H. Slusher, Waukesha, Wis., Raymond P. Doss, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and the very special Hamblen family, Deena, Bob, Scott, Steven; two special caring and beautiful people, Delores and Kennis Gray; a caring and special CNA, Ada Sturgill; nephews; nieces; great-nephews; great-nieces; cousins. TABOR, Clyde William, 85, of Pembroke, died Tuesday, September 3, 1996, in Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Shawsville. Born in Giles County on August 4, 1911, he was a son of the late William Meadow and Emma Jane Rock Tabor. He was the husband of the late Laura Tickle Tabor, and was a restaurant operator in Pembroke. Surviving are his daughter, Phyllis T. Simpkins of Pearisburg; three brothers, Jim Tabor of Arlington, Texas, Chester Tabor of Pearisburg and Lawrence Tabor of Christiansburg; one sister, Katherine T. Karlowski of Metamore, Ill., two grandchildren, Linda Brown and Greg Little of Pearisburg, and one great-grandchild, Schallyne Stone. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg. At Clyde's request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home or funeral services. UTT, Thelma Elizabeth Warren, of Lynchburg, wife of the late Omer Oscar Utt, passed away at home Sunday, September 1, 1996. Surviving are her son, James Warren Utt and daughter-in-law, Mary, Roanoke; grandson, James Warren Utt Jr. and wife, Cathy, Chicago, Ill.; granddaughter, Molly Utt Yesawich and husband, Chris, Dallas, Ore.; three great-grandsons, James Bronson Helm, Austin Thomas Helm and James Warren Utt III; nephew, J.E. Warren and his wife, Marjorie, Lynchburg; four great-nephews, Robert Wrren, Lynchburg, Jay Warren, Fuqua Varina, N.C., Brian Crance and Frank M. Crance III, Riverside, Calif. Mrs. Utt was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and past President of the Lynchburg Council of Church Women. She was State President of Virginia Council of Nationally Accredited Flower Show Judges of V.F.G.C. and is nationally accredited Flower Show Judge with a Master's certificate. WYATT, Sylvia C., 54, of Shawsville, died suddenly Monday, September 2, 1996, at her home. She was the owner and operator of Wyatt & Trail Oak Furniture, and for the past nine years served as a bus aide for the Montgomery County Public Schools Transportation Department. Surviving are her husband, Thurman Wyatt; three daughters, Debra Starkey, Linda Trail, both of Shawsville, Alma Taylor, Oxford, Pa.; three sons, Joseph Wyatt, T. C. Wyatt, both of Pennsylvania, Doug Wyatt, Shawsville; her mother, Ocie Conner, Shawsville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathleen and Robert Gravel, Pauline and William Sutphin, all of Shawsville, Audrey Dickerson, Hardy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wesley and Ada Conner, Shawsville, Joseph O'Dean and Janet Conner, Virginia Beach; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
