Police arrested a 59-year-old man last week after a bank teller told them a man had asked for money and indicated he had a gun.
Delmar Eugene Musick, with no known address, was charged with entering a bank with intent to commit larceny Thursday. Police announced his arrest Monday.
Musick was held without bond in Roanoke City Jail.
Police said a man walked into the Signet Bank at 110 First St. S.W. about 3:50 p.m. The man walked to the front of a line, told a teller that he needed some money and asked how much she had. Police said the teller asked the man if he had an account. The teller said the man said he did not. The man then said he had a .45-caliber pistol and asked if that counted. When another teller said the police would be called, the man left.
Police were given the description of a man wearing a red, white and blue bandana on his head. They arrested Musick in a restaurant on Church Avenue Southwest.
During the weekend, a 36-year-old Southeast Roanoke man was assaulted and robbed as he walked in his neighborhood early Saturday.
About 1:20 a.m., James Janney was walking in the 700 block of Dale Avenue Southeast when a man rode up on a bicycle and demanded money.
Police said Janney refused and was hit in the head repeatedly. The blows knocked Janney to the ground. The man took Janney's wallet, which contained $10.
