Two teen-agers accused of beating a 3-year-old girl are awaiting trial in South Carolina involving the beating of another youth, a newspaper reported Monday.
The two boys, along with an 11-year-old girl, allegedly beat the toddler into unconsciousness July 25 because she refused to cry. A hearing is set for Oct. 2 in Mecklenburg County Juvenile Court.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch said the boys also face trial in their home state, South Carolina. A law enforcement source said a youth allegedly was hit and kicked repeatedly in that case.
The source, who was not identified, said the boys also have records of other charges, mainly stealing. One of the boys, age 16, and the 11-year-old girl are the half-brother and half-sister of the toddler who was beaten in South Hill. The other boy, 13, is their cousin.
