Sara Moore scored 12 of her game-high 18 points in the first quarter as Lord Botetourt was able to hold on to an early lead for a 74-53 Blue Ridge District victory over Alleghany on Tuesday night in Daleville.
Moore also grabbed six rebounds and had five assists. Aimee Bird contributed 16 points and Katrina Elliot added four steals to her eight points.
The Cavaliers (9-1 overall, 2-1 district) played without Sarah Hicks. The All-Timesland forward is doubtful for Thursday's game against Rockbridge County.
The Mountaineers (5-3, 1-2) were led by Natasha Chapman, who scored 13 points.
Northside 62, Rockbridge County 46: Crystal Barrett and Amber Kern each had seven points in the third quarter as the Vikings broke open a Blue Ridge District game at Lexington.
Northside (8-1, 3-0) outscored Rockbridge County (0-9, 0-3) 26-11 in the third. Barrett finished with 11 points to lead the Vikings.
Rockbridge's Kate Ides had 11 points, 14 rebounds and six blocked shots. Elizabeth Faulkner scored 12.
Giles 67, Craig County 25: Cristen White had all but two of her game-high 15 points in the first half as the Spartans (4-5) rolled in a non-district matchup in New Castle.
Jodi Mullins joined White in double figures with 11 points. All but one Giles player scored.
Sommer Horn led Craig County with 10 points. The Rockets shot 15 percent from the field.
