Two Roanoke fast-food restaurants were robbed Sunday. Police didn't know if they were connected.
At 1:51 p.m. a customer at the Pizza Hut at 1016 Hershberger Road N.W. passed a note to the cashier demanding money, police said. The note indicated that he had a gun. The robber then lifted his shirt and displayed a handgun in his waistband. The robber took cash from the register and fled.
At about 11 p.m. an armed man wearing a stocking over his head robbed the Wendy's restaurant at 1419 Williamson Road N.E., police said. The robber entered the store just before closing time and forced the employees into an office. The robber took the telephone headsets and an undisclosed amount of cash. He told the employees to wait five minutes before leaving the room.
Early Friday, a Northwest Roanoke convenience store was robbed by an armed man, police said. At about 3:30 a.m., a man placed a couple of items near the clerk at the cash register and pulled a handgun. The robber demanded money and took an undisclosed amount of cash.
