STATE PHOTO CONTEST EMPHASIZES CONSERVATION

The state Department of Conservation and Recreation is sponsoring a photography contest in conjunction with Fall River Renaissance, a statewide water cleanup campaign that ends Oct. 19.

The winners in the photography contest will receive prizes, and their photographs will become part of a traveling exhibition.

The contest has the following categories:

* Before-and-after shots of the water cleanup.

* Volunteers.

* Favorite waterways.

Color or black-and-white photographs of up to 8 by 10 inches or slides are eligible. The entry deadline is Nov. 15.
