Barefoot-Goodykoontz
Susan Stevens Barefoot and William Oakey Goodykoontz Jr. are engaged and plan to be married on Nov. 18, 1996 in Radford.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Dr. Betsy Barefoot of Columbia, S.C. and Dr. Sherwood Barefoot of Salt Lake City, Utah. She is a graduate of Asheboro (N.C.) High School and Salem College. She is employed by the Arizona Department of Health Services in Phoenix, Az.
Her fiance is a son of Mary Susan Goodykoontz and the late William Oakey Goodykoontz Sr. He is a graduate of Radford High School and James Madison University, and is employed by The Arizona Republic newspaper, also in Phoenix, Az.
Hofer-Shupe
Cheryl Hofer and Chris Shupe will be married on November 2, 1996. The couple will be ending a long engagement that began March 6, 1994 in Wilmington, N.C.
Cheryl, who is the daughter of Zurna and Charles Hofer of Roanoke, Va., graduated from Cave Spring High School, Virginia Western Community College and attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and plans to attend Virginia Tech in the spring.
Chris, who is the son of Lois Shupe of Roanoke, Va., and Ralph Shupe of Richmond, Va., graduated from Cave Spring High School and attended Virginia Western Community College and is a salesman at 1st Team Automall.
Johnston-Smith
Mr. and Mrs. Elwood ""Buddy"" L. Johnston are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Angelina Marie, to Robert Floyd Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Smith. The bride-to-be is an employee of Manpower, in Bedford. The prospective groom is an employee of Southern States in Bedford. A June 1997 wedding is being planned.
Mitchell-Murray
Mr. Lonnis M. Mitchell of Huddleston and Mrs. Juanita I. Price of Stoneville, N. C., proudly announce the engagement of their daughter, Lisa Marie Mitchell, to Lewis Woodrow Murray, Jr. Lewis is the son of Mrs. Peggy A. Murray of Bedford and the late Mr. Lewis ``Boots'' Murray.
Miss Mitchell is a graduate of Staunton River High School. Mr. Murray is a graduate of Liberty High School and attended CVCC. Both are currently employed by Rubatex.
The wedding is being planned for June 21, 1997, at the Peaks of Otter.
St.Cyr-Niestrath
Mr. and Mrs. Emery A. St.Cyr of Roanoke are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Laurie, to Robert A. Niestrath. Robert is the son of Mrs. Elaine Niestrath and the late David B. Niestrath, of Charlottesville.
The bride-to-be is a graduate of Eastern College, St. Davids, Pa. where she earned a BA in Elementary Education. She was formerly employed by Roanoke City Schools and now works for the Albemarle County School System.
The prospective groom earned a BA in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems from Mary Baldwin College. He is employed by Sperry Marine.
A wedding is planned for March 1997 in Charlottesville.
Sutherland-Booth
Trena Kay Sutherland and Jason Scott Booth are engaged and planning to be married on May 31, 1997 in Christiansburg, VA.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Sutherland of Blacksburg, VA. She graduated from Shawsville High School and is a senior at Radford University. She is employed by Montgomery County Schools as a girl's basketball and volleyball coach.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Edgar Booth of Elliston, VA. He graduated from Shawsville High School and is attending New River Community College. He is employed by C & S Door Corp., Christiansburg, VA, as an inside sales man.
Thomas-Clarke
Gary and Ann Thomas of Salem, Virginia, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Amy Leigh Thomas, to Brian Stuart Clarke, son of Art and Sonja Clarke of Sandy, Utah.
Amy, the granddaughter of Virginia Howlett, is a graduate of Virginia Tech. She is a television reporter in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Brian is also a graduate of Virginia Tech. He is an architect in Salt Lake City, Utah.
