More than a dozen windows were smashed at homes, businesses and vehicles in Southeast and Southwest Roanoke early Monday. Police have arrested two 20-year-old men and charged them with six of the incidents.
Warren Frederick Morrison of the 1700 block of Main Street Southwest was charged with misdemeanor property damage in connection with a pumpkin thrown through a window at a house on Mountain Avenue Southeast.
James Christopher Whyte of the 600 block of Mountain Avenue Southeast has been charged with five counts of misdemeanor property damage. Four of the charges are in connection with broken vehicle windows. The fifth charge stems from damage to a statue on Main Street Southwest.
Police made the arrests after they stopped a vehicle that fit the description of one seen in the area at the time the crimes were committed.
Also early Monday, windows were shot out of 12 parked vehicles along Williamson Road and Peters Creek Road Northwest. Police believe a BB gun was used. In some instances, items were taken from the vehicles.
