Bales anniversary
Odie Halmer and Ivy June Harris Bales are celebrating their 50th Anniversary October 25, 1996. They were married October 25, 1946 and made their home in Sevier County, Tennessee, later moved to Knox County and in 1961 moved to Roanoke, Virginia and built their home in Roanoke County. Odie was employed at Johnson Carper Furniture Company, served in the Army during World War II, the Tennessee National Guard until 1961 and is retired from General Electric.
Ivy June is a daughter of the late Ivy Judson and Sarah Lida Thompson Harris, attended Tarrant Elementary School in Birmingham, Alabama, graduated from Sevier County High in Sevierville, Tennessee and is a former employee of Eli Lilly.
They are the parents of two daughters, Jeanette and Odilee, one son, Odie Jr., and celebrated the day at home with the family. They enjoyed visiting with friends and relatives in Birmingham and Knoxville and attending a concert in Sevier County.
Gallagher anniversary
Wilbert & Elizabeth Bauman Gallagher celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with a reception given by their four children, their spouses, and six grandchildren. The reception was held at First Church of the Nazarene where they were married October 5, 1946.
Reed anniversary
Marvin G. and Lynette T. Reed celebrated their 50th anniversary on Oct. 2, 1996 with a dinner at The Farm House, hosted by their children, Thomas G., Donald L. and wife, Charlotte, of Christiansburg, Virginia, Michael T. & wife, Debby, of Newark, Delaware. Grandchildren are Aaron, Amber, Matthew and Wyatt.
Marvin and Lynette were married Oct. 2, 1946 in Green Memorial Methodist Church, Roanoke, Virginia. She is the former Lynette Taylor of Salem, Virginia.
They have been residents of Christiansburg for forty-five years and are both retired.
