The average weekly income in the Roanoke Valley stood at $464 in March, according to the latest quarterly report from the Virginia Employment Commission.
The region lagged 13 percent behind the state's $536. Salem's weekly wage of $526 was highest in the metro area, followed by Roanoke County, $461; Roanoke, $448; and Botetourt County, $424.
