BOARD, Karen, 51, of Christiansburg, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 1996, at Lewis-Gale Medical Center following a long illness. The family would like to announce the celebration of her life. Born Trula Karen Millsaps, she was the last of eight children of the late William T. and Ruth M. Millsaps. She began her life June 8, 1945, in Bristol, Va., and was graduated from Radford University in 1967. Karen and two children, Sherry and Robert, have lived in the Christiansburg area since 1974. Karen retired from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1995. Karen has celebrated her 51 years with many friends and associates, and the family extends their gratitude to them for sharing in and being a part of her life. She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Sherry Board of Christiansburg; her son, Robert Board of Oxford, Miss.; her sisters, Wilma Rinchko of Deerfield Beach, Fla., Marie Maddix of Baltimore, Md., Lois Bryant of Knoxville, Tenn., Linda Maybaum of McLean and Brenda Barefield of Davenport, Iowa, and her brothers, William D. Millsaps of Orlando, Fla., and Robert T. Millsaps of Bristol, Va. Karen arranged to donate her body to medical science. CALDWELL, Troy L., of Annandale, died Wednesday, November 6, 1996. He was the husband of Joanne Caldwell, and the son of the late Archie and Nettie Caldwell. He was preceded in death by a young son, Christopher Caldwell. In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons, Mr. and Mrs. Randy Caldwell of Gainesville, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Caldwell of Lewisv ille, N.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Caldwell of Alexandria; four grandchildren, Keith, Travis, Nicole, and Melanie Caldwell. CAPPS, Charles E., of Salem, passed away Thursday, November 7, 1996. Born in Four Oaks, N.C., he was an area manager with Wal-Mart for many years and was previously assocated with Sidney's Stores. A resident of Salem for 25 years. He was a member of Oak Grove Assembly of God. Mr. Capps was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanna Caldwell. He is survived by his wife, Edna A. Capps; daughters and sons-in-law, Jimmiel and the Rev. Danny Johnston, Salem, Jaretta and Len Smith, Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, Stephanie and Charles Scott Johnston, Caroline and Austin Smith, Emily Caldwell; sister, Rebecca Evans, Suffolk. EAKIN, Troy D., 32, of Newville, Pa., formerly of Roanoke, Va., passed away Thursday, October 31, 1996. He was a son of Martha (``Beanie"") Kirby Dorry of Roanoke and the late Blair W. Eakin Sr. He at tended Lexington High School and was employed as a truck mechanic at John's Mobile Repair Service in Carlisle, Pa. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Terry A. Eakin; a daughter, Amanda R. Eakin of the home; his stepfather, Gerald Dorry of Roanoke; two brothers, Blair W. Eakin Jr. of Craigsville, Va., and Monte S. Eakin of Roanoke; two sisters, Charlotte L. Eakin and Latonia N. Eakin of Roanoke; a nephew, Douglas Gilmore of Roanoke, and a special friend, Rhonda Sandidge of Roanoke. ENGLAR, Renea Jones, 32, of Baltimore, Md., formerly of Wytheville, died Thursday, October 31, 1996, at Gilchrist Hospice Center. FIELDS, Helen Stoots, 84, of Austinville, died Tuesday, November 5, 1996, at the home of her son in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Wythe County, the daughter of the late Stewart R. and Lucy Nixon Stoots, and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Fields Sr.; a son, John B. Fields Jr.; a sister, Esther Carter; and a brother, Buford Stoots. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Nathan K. and Dianne D. Fields of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother and sister-in-law, Roby and Ola Stoots of Fries; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 9, 1996, at 1 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Chapel in Austinville with the Rev. Merril Woodson and the Rev. Jerry Long officiating. KIZER, Gladys Virginia Fitzgerald, 80, of Buena Vista, died Wednesday, November 6, 1996, in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born in Augusta County on April 16, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Bland M. and Mary Thacker Fitzgerald. She was the widow of Shuler A. Kizer who died on March 20, 1993. Mrs. Kizer was an active member of St. John's United Methodist Church and Sunday School, and a member of DAR and Colonial Dames Society. She is survived by a daughter, Kitty K. Irvine and husband, Mike of Buena Vista; two grandchildren, David Michael Irvine and Ann Kathryn Irvine, both of Buena Vista; a sister, Libby Reed, Ormond Beach, Fla.; and an aunt, Virginia T. Davis, Staunton. The funeral service will be Saturday, November 9, 1996 at 2 p.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Edward H. Johnson officiating. She was preceded in dea th by her parents, Mary Florence Harden and Rufus Thomas Jordan, and brother, William Andrew ``Jack"" Jordan, Sr. She is survived by her husband, Paul Lawrence LaPradd, Jr.; children, Shirl and T. J. LAWSON, Gladys Mae Whitten, 75, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 1996. She was the widow of Robert Harrison Lawson. She was the daughter of the late Robert Whitte n and Cora Woody Whitten. She was preceded in death by one sister, Gertrude Adkins, and one brother, James Whitten. She was a retired cook from the old City Lunch Restaurant. Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Lawson Glenn of Roanoke; nine grand children, Debra Wright, Gloria Glenn, Brenda (Olufemi) Peregrino, Joanne Glenn, Rita Glenn, Larry Glenn, Junior Glenn, Marvin Glenn and Michael Glenn; sister-in-law, Florence Whitten, and 23 great-grand children. WYATT, Thelma Shepperson, of 20403 Williams Street, Ettrick, Va., departed this life on Tuesday, November 4, 1996, in Silver Spring, Md., where she was under the care and supervision of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wyatt. Mrs. Thelma Wyatt was born on August 20, 1920, in Washington, D.C. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rawlins James Shepperson, and the granddaughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. William H. Shepperson. She attended elementary and high school in Roanoke, Va. She received her bachelor's degree from Johnson C. Smith University and her master's degree from Virginia State University. She taught mathematics in the Petersburg City School System for several decades and retired in 1982. Thelma was an active member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Virginia State University Alumni Association and Boosters Club, and various card clubs. Also, she was a faithful member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, where she participated in the choir and various c hurch activities. Thelma was predeceased by her husband, Mr. Sandy Wyatt, by four years. Surviving is a devoted son, Edward W. Wyatt; and a devoted daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sonja H. Wyatt of Glenn Dale, Md. She is survived by two brothers and their wives, Ralph and Nellie Shepperson of Roanoke, Va., and William and Flossie Shepperson, of Virginia Beach, Va. Three sisters mourn her loss, Mrs. Dorothy Green of Marlow Heights, Md., Mrs. Lucy Glymph of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mrs. Gladys Watson of Roanoke, Va. Three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters are left to mourn her loss, Vicki Wyatt, Kimberley Wyatt, both of Dunstable, England, and Captain Eric Watson of Oceanside, Calif. She has a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Close devoted relatives include Edgar and Antonette Toppin and Edward Smith of Ettrick, Va., Juanita Owens-Penn of Petersburg, Va., Cornelia Goode of Lewisdale, Md, Yvonne Williams of Virginia Beach, Va., Rochelle Glymph of Temple Hills, Md., and Karen Watson of Roanoke, Va. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 18, 1996 from the St. Stephens Episcopal Church, with Father John T. W. Harmon, Rector, officiating. Interment will be in the Dinwiddie Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mrs. Wyatt's name to the St.. Stephens Episcopal Church Building Fund.
