USAir has agreed to pay $450,000 to settle charges that it violated federal rules between 1990 and this year, the Federal Aviation Administration said Friday.
The payment will settle 84 civil penalty cases alleging violations of operations, maintenance and security rules, the FAA said.
The FAA said the violations, which it did not detail, do not indicate a systemic problem at the airline and do not raise questions about the safety of USAir.
Airline officials could not be reached immediately for comment, but the FAA noted that agreeing to the settlement does not constitute an admission of guilt by the airline. The agency, however, added that the order does not settle ``several other cases,'' which the FAA and airline will work out separately.
