* Keep a list of emergency telephone numbers by the phone. This should include parent work number and numbers of neighbors or other nearby friends. Keep information such as your exact address, house description and directions to your house for 911 by the phone.

* When you get a phone call from someone you don't know, never tell them you're alone.

* Keep the doors locked at your house at all times. Do not let strangers into your house.

* Do not use cooking stoves or heaters unless you have permission from an adult. Never play with cigarette lighters or matches. Ask an adult to make sure your smoke alarm works.
