Jerry W. Quesenberry recently reported for duty aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Stout, homeported in Norfolk. Quesenberry graduated from Pulaski County High School in 1994 and joined the Navy in February. He is the son of Jerry and Sandra Quesenberry of Christiansburg. His wife, Shannon, is the daughter of Robert Howell of Radford.

Marine Pfc. Jon A. Bassett has graduated from the Reserve Administration Course. The two-week course was at the Marine Corps Service Support Schools, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N.C. Bassett is a 1995 graduate of Pulaski County High School. He joined the Navy in January 1996. He is the son of Lonnie and Martha Bassett of Pulaski.

Marine Sgt. Donald E. Martin has graduated from the U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant's Course. The course was at the Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. Martin is a 1991 graduate of Christiansburg High School. He joined the Marine Corps in December 1991. He is the son of Norman and Rena Martin of Christiansburg.

Marine Cpl. Michael C. Daley is halfway through a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. He is aboard the ships of the USS Saipan Amphibious Ready Group. So far, Daley has visited France and Romania. Daley joined the Marine Corps in March 1995. He is the son of David Daley of Pilot.

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Gary W. Burris is halfway through a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean and Adriatic seas, and the Persian Gulf. He is abroad the USS Supply as part of the USS Enterprise Battle Group.
Burris graduated from Pulaski County High School in 1984 and joined the Navy in September 1991. He is the son of Marvin and Mary Burris of Pulaski.

Marine Cpl. Douglas E. Wiley has reported for duty with 1st Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 36, 1st Marine Aircraft wing, Okinawa, Japan. Wiley joined the Marine Corps in 1993. He is the son of Harmie and Phyllis Wiley of Pearisburg.

Army Reserve Pfc. Alexander C. Webb has graduated from the motor transport operator course at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo. Webb graduated from Giles High School in 1996. He is the son of Calesa Sproles of Blacksburg.

Army Pvt. Travis W. Price has entered basic military training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.. Price graduated from Giles High School in 1996. He is the son of Barbara and Robert Price of Pearisburg.

Marine Sgt. Michael T. Fisher of Blacksburg recently received a Certificate of Commendation while assigned with 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Roanoke. Fisher was recognized for his superior performance of duty. Fisher joined the Marine Corps in 1991. He received a bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech in 1995.
