Northwood parlayed superb free-throw shooting and a 34-point effort by Jill Woodward into a 75-69 victory over Glenvar on Tuesday night in a Region C girls' basketball tournament quarterfinal.
Northwood (21-4) hit 29 of 34 from the line, including a school-record 14-for-14 performance by Serena Jones, who added 21 points.
Crystal Kestner added 12 points for the Panthers, who will meet Parry McCluer in a semifinal at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Christiansburg High School.
Glenvar (17-7) struggled from the free-throw line, hitting nine of 17 shots in Dennis Layman's last game as head coach. Layman previously had announced his retirement effective at the end of the season.
Erika Hale led the Highlanders (17-7) with 24 points and Bonnie Willett had 12.
