The U.S. Forest Service will give people in the Abingdon area a chance today to see information that will be used in development of a new management plan for the Jefferson National Forest.
From 4 to 7 p.m. at the 4-H Center in Abingdon, people can look at the various inventories the Forest Service has conducted on the Jefferson. The inventories include an accounting of scenery, old-growth forest, roadless areas, recreation, timber, wildlife and ecosystems.
The Forest Service will use the information in the inventories to develop and evaluate alternatives for managing the forest.
