BRYANT, Woodrow Jackson, Sr., (``Woody""), 76, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 17, 1996. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen T. Bryant, and two great-grandchildren, Thomas Allen Lambert and Woodrow J. Bryant IV. He was retired from W. J. Bryant and Sons Contractors. Surviving are his children, Rosemary Stafford and Wesley of Roanoke, Woodrow J. (``Jackie"") Bryant Jr. and wife Rita of Roanoke, Janet Patrick and husband Jerry of Saltville, William E. (``Eugene"") Bryant Sr. and wife Joyce of Roanoke, Charles H. Bryant and wife Shelby of Roanoke, James T. Bryant and wife Lynn of Roanoke, and Jennifer B. (``Dolly"") Ellert and husband Bruce of Roanoke; special loved one, Kathleen of Blacksburg; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; nephew, Charlie of Blacksburg, and niece, Reba of North Carolina. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 1 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Jeff Copper officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. CABINESS, Evelyn Mildred, 80, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, November 15, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell E. Cabiness. Mrs. Cabiness was an active member of Oakland Baptist Church. She is survived by sons, Roger Cabiness and Dave Cabiness; several nephews, Alfred Flinchum, Ronnie Flinchum, Wayne Flinchum and Sheridan Flinchum, and a stepgrandchild, Barbie Hiner. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 1996, in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, with the Rev. Kelly H. Dampeer officiating. The family will receive fri ends from 1 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Oakey's North Chapel.

COMER, Jean Frances, 63, of 33 Fifth Street, N.E., Pulaski, died Sunday morning, November 17, 1996, at her home. She was born in Buena Vista on August 3, 1933, and was preceded in death by her parents, father, former Pulaski Chief of Police Charles E. Comer, and mother, Martha St. John Comer. Ms. Comer worked for the Commissioner of Revenue's Office in Pulaski from February 1951 until December 1995. She graduated from Pulaski High School in 1950 and attended New River Community College. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Pulaski. Surviving are her brother, Lyle Comer of Pulaski; a nephew, Charles Eddie Comer of Culpeper; a niece, Martha Katherine Hawk of Spring, Texas, and close devoted relatives including Helen Harruson and Jeanne O'Brien of Roanoke, Ruth and Arlie Kingery of Pulaski, and Muriel H. Comer and Lena Emily Hyde of Pulaski. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from First Baptist Church in Pulaski, with the Rev. Steven Emory officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. HALL, Walter A., 89, of Ivanhoe, died Saturday, November 16, 1996 in Kegley Manor in Bastian, Va. He was born in Elliston, Va., the son of the late Walter B. and Lucy Helm Hall. He was a retired Foreman of the National Carbide Company and served with the Wythe County Sheriff's Department for more than ten years. After his retirement, he served as a security guard at the New Jersey Zinc Company. He was a member of the Ivanhoe Masonic Lodge #235, A.F. & A.M., former member of the Ivanhoe Band and former catcher with the Ivanhoe Baseball Team. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kathleen Sangster Hall and a sister, Minnie H. Heslep. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Roger Repass of Rt. 3, Max Meadows, Va.; two grandchildren, Eric Sean Repass, John Stewart ``Bo"" Repass; one sister, Elizabeth O. Roberson of Salem, Va.; one brother, Roy N. Hall of Suffolk, Va. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 18, 1996, at 1 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel, with Jack King officiating. Interment will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. KINCER, Ollie Eversole, 91, of Wytheville, died Sunday, November 17, 1996, at Birdmont Health Care Center. She was a retired nurses aid from Virginia's Rest Home and was the widow of Brown R. Kincer. She is survived by a brother, Taylor Eversole of Wytheville; a special friend, Lawrence Umberger of Wytheville, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Grubb Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Joe Carrico, with the interment in Rosewood Memorial Gardens at Rural Retreat. LACKS, Sarah Katherine, 80, of 514 Mountain Ave. S.W., Roanoke, died this morning, Sunday, November 17, 1996, at her residence. She was born September 6, 1916 in Halifax, daughter of the late William H. and Lou Liza Lacks. Miss Lacks worked at the former Industrian Rayon Plant in Covington and the Community Hospital in Roanoke, retiring in 1992. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Neil (Nellie) Keller of Covington and Mrs. Vernon (Josephine) Howard of Roanoke; one brother, James H. Lacks of Covington; a special niece, Mrs. Buck (Nancy) Phillips of Covington. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Miss Lacks was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Howard Merrell officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. SAYERS, Emily Chrisley, 77, of Wytheville, died Saturday, November 16, 1996 in the Montgomery Regional Hospital, Blacksburg, Va. She was the daughter of the late William Henry and Margaret B. Chrisley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edd J. Sayers and is survived by her daughter, Betty J. Sayers of Blacksburg; three sisters, Frances Wright of Ravenna, Ohio, Bessie Earhart of Wytheville, Dollie Gravley of Max Meadows; two grandchildren and their spouses, Dane and Samantha Cochran of Max Meadows, Tammy and Greg Turner of Ivanhoe; and three great-grandchildren, Dexter, Roger and Devin. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Fogus, with interment in the church cemetery. WHITESELL, Nellie Mae, 93, of Newport News, wife of the late Samuel M. Whitesell, Sr., died Sunday, November 17, 1996 in Newport News, Va. Daughter of William Eli Whitesell and Martha Anne Mitchell Whitesell, she was born in York County, S.C. on November 1, 1903. Survivors include sons and dau ghters-in-law, Sam, Jr. and Kay Whitesell, Newport News, David and Diane Whitesell, Port Charlotte, Fla., William and Phyllis Whitesell, Lancaster, Penn.; and daughter, Mary Lou Agee, Roanoke; ten grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
