ASBURY, Ivy Louise, of Pickston, S.D., died Monday, November 18, 1996. She was formerly of Radford and was preceded in death by her husband, R. P. HATFIELD, Laura Margaret Horne, (``Peg''), of Kingsport, Tenn., died Monday morning, November 18, 1996, at Hillside Manor in Kingsport, Tenn. She lived in Saltville for 54 years before moving to Kingsport four years ago. Mrs. Hatfield was born in Glade Spring. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. C. C. Hatfield; her parents, Dr. A. F. Horne and Laura Lincoln Horne; and by four brothers; and one sister. Survivors are one son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Melinda Hatfield, Kingsport, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Susan Elizabeth Hatfield, Kingsport, Tenn.; one grandson, James Andrew Hatfield Jr., Kingsport, Tenn. Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Margaret ``Peg'' Hatfield will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 1996, at the Riverview Presbyterian Church with Rev. Wiley Neal officiating. JOHNSON, Yolanda Jane Taylor, 85, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, November 18, 1996. She was born in Floyd to the late Emory B. Sr. and Mary Etta Akers Taylor. She retired from the V.A. Medical Center, where she worked for many years as a nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry D. Johnson Sr.; and a sister, Margie McDaniel. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Sylvia A. Wade, Patricia V. and Donald Cabbler, all of Roanoke; four sons and one daughter-in-law, Harry D. Johnson Jr., Hubert T. Johnson, Cecil R. Johnson, John M. and Jo Ann Johnson, all of Roanoke; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Grace E. and Henry Ballard, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mildred J. Hampton, Columbus, Ohio; four brothers and two sister-in-law, William E. Taylor, Columbus, Ohio, Kyle R. and Fannie Mae Taylor, Floyd, Paul J. Taylor, Columbus, Ohio, and Emory B. Jr. and Carol Taylor, Floyd; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Thursday, 2 p.m., at the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel. Rev. Lorraine Austin will officiate, with the interment in Williams Memorial Park. JONES, Tressia L., 74, of The Warm Hearth Village, Blacksburg, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, November 17, 1996. She was born in Vale, W. Va. March 4, 1922. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dries M. Jones. She is survived by her loved ones and friends. Her body was donated to medical science and a memorial service will be held at the Wesleyan Community Church at 1121 South Main St., Blacksburg, Va. 24060, 3 p.m. Sunday. LUNSFORD, Fred Stuart Jr., 78, of Glasgow, died Sunday, November 17, 1996, at his residence. Born March 14, 1918, in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late Fred S tuart Lunsford Sr. and Delight Wilson Lunsford. Mr. Lunsford was a member of Buena Vista Presbyterian Church, and was retired from Burlington Industries of Glasgow. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Lunsford, in February 1996. Surviving are two daughters, Selena Blackwell, Richmond, Freda L. Tennant, Valrico, Fla.; one sister, Mildred Roberts, Lexington; four brothers, Gilmore Lunsford, Glasgow, Alvis Lunsford, King, N.C., Randolph Lunsford, Las Vegas, Nev., Dexter Lunsford, Augusta, Ga.; one grandchild. A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, November 20, 1996, at 2 p.m. from the Harrison Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Donald McLean Jr. officiating. McKINNEY, Alfred Winston, 89, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, November 18, 1996. He was a member of Connelly Memorial Baptist Church, and a retiree from the Norfolk & Western Railway. Surviving are his wife, Pauline Morgan McKinney; a son, W. Reid McKinney, Roanoke; a brother, J. C. McKinney, Roanoke; and a sister, Mrs. Ruth M. White, Lexington, Ky. MOTLEY, Vergie Renell, 58, of Rocky Mount, died Monday, November 18, 199 6 at Lewis-Gale Hospital. Mrs. Motley was born July 14, 1938 in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Richard and Annie Hodges. She was a member of the Henry Fork Church of the Brethren. Surviving are her husband of 38 years, George Booth Motley; two daughters and one son-in-law, Teresa and Jimmy Lovell, of Henry, Michelle Hodges, of Rocky Mount; two sons and daughters-in-law, Nathan Motley and Brenda Hodges, Rocky Mount, Curtis and Susan Motley, Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren, J. B. Lovell, Ryan, Brent, Lauren and Tyler Motley; two sisters, Dorothy Shively, Rocky Mount, Frances Curry, Martinsville; two brothers, Randolph Hodges and Richard N. Hodges, both of Rocky Mount. RADFORD, Charles Bernard, 79 of Roanoke went home to meet the Lord after a long battle with cancer on Sunday, November 17, 1996. Mr. Radford was very active in the First Church of Nazarene serving as Sunday School Teacher for many years. He was a loving husband, father, and was loved by many friends. After serving 40 years as teacher and principal, he retired from the Roanoke City School System. Mr. Radford was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Border Radford; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Clark Fuqua, Laura and Benjamin Cross; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Kathy Radford; grandchildren, Chris, Jeremy, Brian Cole, Lindsey, Michael, Austin, and Mallory; sisters, Essie Mae Heffner, Iva Eanes, Ama Harmon; 10 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 1996 at Oakey's North Chapel with Rev. Earl Robertson and Rev. Randy Ledsome officiating. SARVER, Benjamin Joseph, (``B. J."") 20, of Elliston passed away Sunday, November 17, 1996. He was a graduate of Shawsville High School Class of 1996 and an employee Kirby-Vass. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Rose and Casey Jones; father and stepmother, Robert and Rebekah Sarver; stepsister, Katie Jones, half brothers, Joey and Joshua Sarver; maternal grandparents, A. STANLEY, Joseph Woodrow, 81, of Dublin, passed away Monday, November 18, 1996 at a Winston-Salem, N.C. hospital. Mr. Stanley was retired from the New River Community College in Dublin, was a member of the Dublin Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his first wife, Eva Maxine Stanley. WALLER, Joseph Curtis, 65, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, November 17, 1996. He was born in Roanoke to the late Albert H. and Mildred Dodson Waller. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and retired from the Firestone Tire Company. Survivors include his wife, Mary Waller; one daughter, Christina S. Waller; one son, Joseph D. Waller; two stepsons, Franklin D. (Florence) Walker and Orlando V. (Ricarda) Walker; three sisters, Lucille Johnson, Philadelphia, Pa., Arlene Boyer, Salem, and Betty (Belford) Hunt, Roanoke; eight grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Margaret Boyd, Dorothy Boyd, and Barbara Waller; brothers-in-law, Robert H. WHITESELL, Nellie Mae, 93, of Newport News, wife of the late Samuel M. Whitesell, Sr., died Sunday, November 17, 1996 in Newport News, Va. Daughter of William Eli Whitesell and Martha Anne Mitchell Whitesell, she was born in York County, S.C. on November 1, 1903. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Sam, Jr. and Kay Whitesell, Newport News, David and Diane Whitesell, Port Charlotte, Fla., William and Phyllis Whitesell, Lancaster, Penn.; and daughter, Mary Lou Agee, Roanoke; ten grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Whitesell formerly lived in Fries, Galas and Clifton Forge, Va. While living in Fries, she taught school for several years during World War II.
