Radio station WVTF will hold an on-air discussion tonight seeking opinion of the New Century Council's effort to stimulate the Western Virginia economy.
The public can attend the 7 p.m. show in Shenandoah Ballroom B of the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center or hear it live on 89.1 FM. Questions and comments will be taken from audience members and callers at (800) 856-8900, or by fax at (540) 776-2727 or e-mail at wvtfxc2vt.edu.
The program is an installment of Weekly Edition, a public affairs talk show led by Jim Davis. Davis' guests will be Beverly Fitzpatrick, executive director the council; Douglas McAlister, executive director of public programs at Virginia Tech; and Michele Wright, who directs the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce.
The 3-year-old council brought together residents to write a vision for how they would like life to be in Western Virginia in 2015. Committees are working to implement some of its strategies to improve the economy, health care, roads, schools, government and public life.
