Six attack host with silverware
VIRGINIA BEACH - Six people were charged with malicious assault after they attacked a restaurant host with steak knives and dinner forks, police said.
Dwayne Overton, 28, of Norfolk suffered multiple stab and puncture wounds in Saturday's assault. He was treated at Sentara Bayside Hospital and released.
Police said the attack occurred about 4 a.m. at an International House of Pancakes. A group of four men and two women had just come from a Norfolk club, where they had been drinking. They got into a dispute with a waitress and became disorderly, police said.
The group decided to leave without eating. As they were escorted to the door by Overton, they ``grabbed steak knives and forks from the waitress station and began attacking the host,'' police spokesman Mike Carey said.
Police arrived and arrested the six.

Inmate charged with get-free con
NORFOLK - A lawyer convicted in 1991 of bilking the Internal Revenue Service is being sought by federal authorities for allegedly hatching an illegal scheme to obtain a furlough from prison.
Richard Hirschfeld was released from prison in March 1995, and federal authorities say they don't know where he is.
Hirschfeld, who has had dealings with the likes of Muhammad Ali and Kenny Rogers, was indicted Friday on charges of conspiracy and obstruction of justice. He could receive up to 35 years in prison and $1 million in fines if convicted.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Norfolk said Hirschfeld conspired in 1992 with longtime friend Joseph Seriani to send faked letters to judges. When Seriani obtained a job as executive director at a Habitat for Humanity office in Florida, he used stationery with a Habitat letterhead to ask a judge to release Hirschfeld for charitable work, according to the indictment.
