BROCK, Hassel Herman, 87, of Pearisburg, died Sunday night, November 24, 1996, in Pearisburg. Mr. Brock was born on January 25, 1909 in Glade Hill, and was a son of the late William Thomas and Ida Holland Brock. Mr. Brock was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Walter, Sam, John, Randle, Troy, Flint, and Cova Brock; and by four sisters, Julie B. Young, Ocie B. Maxey, Hattie B. Waldron, and Clara Brock. Mr. Brock was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg, and was a retired employee of the Hoechst Celanese Corp. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia Jenkins Brock of Pearisburg; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Claudia Brock of Roanoke; one daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Warren Williams of White Gate; three grandsons, Gregg Brock and his wife, Donna, Kevin and John Brock; and two granddaughters, Kira and Brenan Lee. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 27, 1996, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg, with the Rev. Freddrick Long and Rev. Judith Long officiating, with burial following at the Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg.
BROWN, James Maynard Sr., 76, of Rocky Mount, died Monday, November 25, 1996. Mr. Brown was a member of the Rocky Mount Christian Church and retired from Dupont with 31 years of service. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Mrs. Cassie Thurman Brown of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, James M. Jr. and Nancy Turner Brown of Wirtz, Carl Thomas and Linda M. Brown, Rocky Mount; one daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie D. and Major Gen. Ed Hanlon IV of Virginia Beach; one sister and brother-in-law, Gillie and Gordon Ramey; one brother, Tony D. Brown all of Martinsville; three grandchildren, Julie Brett, Edward and Steven Robert Hanlon; two stepgrandchildren, David and Sonya Barnhart; two sisters-in-law, Ann Brown, Martinsville, Edith Brown, Rocky Mount; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, 1996 from the Lynch Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Arthur Beam and the Rev. Charles H. Comer officiating. CRENSHAW, Shirley T., 51, of Roanoke, departed this lif e on Sunday, November 24, 1996, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was employed by Roanoke Memorial Hospital as a supervisor in the laundry. She had been employed there for almost 20 years. She was the widow of Waldine Crenshaw. Surviving are one son and his wife, Lloyd Michael and Janis Crenshaw, Roanoke; three grandsons, Trey, Tony Jr., and Coy; one sister, Joyce Ann Terry, Buchanan; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Betty Terry, Buchanan, Otey and Alease Terry, Glasgow, Kenneth and Shirley Terry, Buchanan; and three devoted friends, Ralph Fuller, Barbara English, and Donna Quesenberry; a host of nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Essie Mae Potter; stepchildren, Charles Crenshaw, Mary Shorter, Donald Crenshaw, Avis Reynolds, all of Roanoke. MILLEHAN, Patrick Thomas, 70, of Roanoke, passed away on Monday morning, November 25, 1996. He is survived by his wife, Doris Millehan; one daughter, Jan Millehan; his sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Anne Millehan, Ron and Mary Jane Millehan; and beloved grandson, Christopher Millehan, all of Roanoke. He is also survived by three brothers and one sister, Andrew, George, Joe Millehan, and Rosaline DuVall. MILLINER, Roy William, 80, of Natural Bridge Station, died Monday, November 25, 1996, at Shenandoah Valley Health Care Facility, Buena Vista. Born August 28, 1916, in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late Charles William Milliner and Laura Cash Milliner. He was a retired security guard, and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Petersburg. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Estelle Mayo, Natural Bridge Station, Mrs. Veronica Miller, Hopewell; two sons, James Milliner, Hopewell, Sean Milliner, Indianapolis, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. Mr. Poindexter was a member Belmont Christian Church and was a retired Captain from the Roanoke City Fire Department with 38 years of service. Surviving is his wife, Eralene S. Poindexter; sons and daughters-in-law, M.H. TURNER, Wiley Leo, Jr., (``Armdy""), 52, of Roanoke, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 23, 1996. He was the son of Mrs. Martha S. Turner and the late Wiley L. Turner, Sr. He was employed by the Roanoke City Water Department. An avid sports fan, he was a dedicated coach of football and basketball for many years, having coached for the Williamson Road Recreation Club, Inner-City Athletic Association, the Northwest Recreation Club and most recently, the Roanoke Jaguars. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry W. Turner. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Priscilla Grogan Turner; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wiley L. (``Squeaky""), III and Cassandra W. Turner, Roanoke, Sgt. Darryl A. and Lynette W. Turner, U. S. Army, Washington, D.C.; two granddaughters, Danyel Turner, Roanoke, Deneik Turner, Washington, D.C.; three brothers, Richard E. (Virginia) Turner, Sr., Ronald L. (Caron) Turner, Sr., Michael A. (``Truck"") Turner; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Tina and Howard Allredd, Tyrone and Diane Grogan, Kathy M.
