Salem police have charged seven Northside High School students with destruction of private property, a misdemeanor, after the Salem football stadium was vandalized before Salem High School's game against Northside two weeks ago.
Police would not release the names of the seven students, all of them 16-year-old boys.
Sometime during the night of Nov. 14, police said the vandals climbed the fence at the stadium.
They spray painted "Northside" on the grass field. On a wall opposite the home-team fans, they spray painted "NHS #1" and "Salem sucks," said Salem police Sgt. D.R. Divers.
Police estimated the damage at $400.
Stadium crews cleaned up the graffiti before the game that night, Divers said.
