CHILDRESS, William Wesley, (``Wes""), 86, of 1551 Oakwood Street, Bedford, died Wednesday, November 27, 1996 in Carilion Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born in Madison Heights, Va. on September 13,1910, a son of the late John Wesley and Willie Palmer Raikes Childress. He was owner and operator of Childress Cash Food Market for over 28 years. He was a former member of Bedford Rotary Club and was a member of Bedford Presbyterian Church. He had served as Deacon and Elder of the church and was a member of the Men's Bible Class for 50 years. Wes served on the Bedford Town Council in the 1950's and the Bedford City Council from 1974 to 1978. He is survived by his wife, Frances Pirkey Childress; a daughter and son-in-law, Willie Byrd and Harvey B. Clarke, Murfreesboro, TN.; son and daughter-in-law, William A. and Jeanette Cole Childress, New York, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth E. and Donna Donahue Childress, Brentwood, TN; son , F. Timothy Childress, New Freedom, PA; one brother, Ralph L. Childress, Athens Township, PA; six grandchildren, Dr. Andrew Clarke, Memphis, TN, David W. Clarke, San Francisco, CA, Melanie Clarke, Murfreesboro, TN, Emily Childress, Harrisonburg, Va., Joshua Childress and Carrie Childress, both of Bedford; two stepgrandsons, Bill Gillespie and Jason Coffey, both of Brentwood, TN; one great-granddaughter, Ellen Clarke, Memphis, TN. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 1996 at Bedford Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Joseph S. Gaston and Dr. J. Harris Stephens officiating. DALTON, Rebecca Moore, 62, of Roanoke, went to rest with the Lord on Wednesday, November 27, 1996. Rebecca graduated in 1955 from Lewis-Gale Nursing School and served as a dedicated nurse for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her father, Max Moore and her sister, Maxine Wells. Surviving are her husband, Paul E. Dalton; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Beth Dalton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Eric Herington, Debbie and Ron Tyree, Julie and Bert Maness; eight grandchildren, Josh and Matthew Maness, Jeremy and Christopher Tyree, Cheyenne Nicole Herington, John Michael Dalton, David and Paul Rowland; her mother, Pauline Moore of Martinsville; a brother, Eugene Moore; and a host of wonderful in-laws and friends. HUBBARD, William R., of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, November 27,1996. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the U. S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, his son and daughter and one grandson. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie H. and Danny Keen of Roanoke, Karen and Danny Walrond, Troutville; 10 grandchildren, Sherman D. Wilson, Vickie H. Wolfe, Karlena Hubbard, Jessica Hubbard, Shelly B. Darnell, Kathy Bennington, Danny W. Keen, Zachary D. Walrond, Andrea K. Walrond, Tyler L. Walrond; and eight great-grandchildren. KEEN, Louise Breeden, 89, of Whitewood, died Wednesday morning, November 27,1996 at her home following a brief illness. She was born in Pea Patch, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Alfred and Martha Munsey Breeden, both Buchanan County natives. She had lived her entire life in the Whitewood, Va. area and was a retired cafeteria manager for Whitewood High School and Whitewood Elementary School. She was a lifetime member of the Whitewood PTA and a charter member of the Whitewood Senior Citizens. She was also a member of the Flatwoods Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Gordon Joshua (Josh) Keen, one son-in-law, Carl Shepherd, three brothers, Earl, Isaiah and Isom Breeden and four grandchildren, Benny Shepherd, Timmy Coomer, Danny Ray Keen and Karen Lynn Keen. Survivors include six daughters, Ruby Shepherd of Oviedo, Fla., Mrs. Milford (Gaye) Maxwell of Whitewood, Va., Mrs. Arnold (Martha) Compton of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Jack (Alice Faye) Coomer of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Larry (Shirley) Whitt of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Robert (Linda) Smith of Beattyville, Ken.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Claude and Nell Keen of Whitewood, Va., Clyde and Jerri Keen of Lexington, Va., Scott and Margaret Keen of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Wimmer of Pea Patch, Va., Mrs. Patsy Mae Mullins of Pilgrims Knob, Va.; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Breeden Keen will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, with Preacher Clarence Herron and Preacher Wayne Halleck o fficiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands after 5 p.m. Friday. KIRTNER, Malvin Phillip, 91, of Radford, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 1996 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Radford, where he was a Trustee and had been on the Deacon Board for over 30 years. He was a retired crane operator for the Lynchburg Foundry with over 35 years of service. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Frances K. McDaniel of Dublin; one son, Eugene Kirtner of Hampton; one brother, Raymond Kirtner of Radford; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Simms of Radford; one half sister, Sylvia Coe of Pulaski; one half brother, Wood Kirtner of Radford; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 30,1996, at 2 p.m. at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Radford, with Pastor Cecil Albano and Pastor Edward Wood officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery in Radford. NICHOLS, Vivian Lynn Sizemore, 34, of Galax, passed away Wednesday night, November 27, 1996, at Twin County Regional Hospital. She was born in Radford, Virginia on July 15, 1962 to Roy B. Sizemore and Nannie Bowman Sizemore. In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joseph E. and Barbara Sizemore of Christiansburg, Steven Sizemore of Galax; two nieces, Cari Sizemore and Cami Sizemore; and a special friend, Allen Dalton of Galax. SHELTON, Henry Lee, 80, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 1996 at the V.A. Medical Center, Salem, Va. Mr. Shelton was retired from General Motor Lines. Henry was the son of Walter and Lillie Shelton of Christiansburg, Va. He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Shelton. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Violet L. Shelton; sister-in-law, Kathleen Shelton; daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Oscar Meador of Montvale; three sons and daughters-in-law, Sidney L. and Charlotte Shelton, Salem, James and Mary Shelton, Salem and son, Robert P. She was the widow of Hubert Sykes, and is survived by two stepdaughters, Sybil Penny and Christine McDonald; one sister-in-law, Audrey Wright; one niece, Shirley Koething; three nephews, Ronald Wright, Arthur King, and E. WHEELER, Ruby Camper, 74, of Buena Vista, died Thursday, November 28,1996 at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. She was born April 17, 1922, a daughter of the late Charlie Camper and N ellie Hall Camper. She was retired from Burlington Industries. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hayden Wheeler, a son, Albert Lee Wheeler, and a daughter, Dolly Marie Wheeler. She is survived by two sons, Leo Wheeler of Buena Vista and Charles Wheeler of Vesuvius; a daughter, Willavene Hayes of Danville; two sisters, Edna Reid and Ernestine Heizer, both of Buena Vista; two brothers, Howard Camper of Buena Vista and Gordon Camper of Roanoke; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; one stepgrandson and a special friend, Malcolm Roberts. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Green Hill Cemetery in Buena Vista, with the Rev. Dean Staton officiating.
