Scott Allman, who was convicted of unintentionally killing a Vinton couple and their daughter as he led police on a chase, has been sued by the father of one of the victims.
Thomas Faucher Sr. filed a negligence lawsuit against Allman in Roanoke County Circuit Court Friday asking for $1 million in damages.
Faucher's lawyer, Andrew Davis of Bedford, was out of the office Tuesday and did not return telephone calls.
In April, as Allman sped toward the intersection of Plantation and Williamson roads, he slammed into a car crossing his path. Faucher's 34-year-old son, Thomas Faucher Jr., was in that car, along with Lori Mason, 36, and the couple's infant daughter, Joleen. All three died.
In June, Allman pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated involuntary manslaughter; in October, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The suit names Thomas Faucher Jr.'s two surviving daughters as beneficiaries.
In October, Faucher filed a $500,000 wrongful death claim against Roanoke County for the police department's role in the chase. The Board of Supervisors denied that last month. State law requires that a claim of that type first be submitted to the governing body before it is filed in court.
Friday's lawsuit does not name the county police department.
