Lord Botetourt rose and fell like stock prices Wednesday before steadying late in the proceedings to beat Glenvar 54-49 in a non-district game in Daleville.
Lord Botetourt snoozed in the first and third quarters and cruised in the second and fourth to win in its fourth game in five starts.
The Cavs held the Highlanders to one fourth-quarter field goal. Michael Yates led the winners with 21 points, Sean Osborne added 14 to go with five steals and five assists, and Jason Hunt added 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Glenvar, which outrebounded the Cavaliers 36-28, fell to 1-5.
Tuesday's game
Highland 52, Tygarts Valley (W.Va.) 49: Brian Werner scored 24 points and Jacob Hull added 13 as the Rams opened their season with a road victory.
Joey Bell scored 12 points and Cortney Elder had 11 for Tygarts Valley.
