Roanoke County holds 'Holly Daze' camp
The Roanoke County Department of Parks and Recreation is sponsoring two weeks of "Holly-Days" camp at the Brambleton Center for children in grades K-five, Dec. 23-Jan. 3.
Each day will feature activities dealing with Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and the New Year celebrations, with music, crafts, field trips and a visit from Santa.
The camp will be held daily from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost is $70 per week. For more information, call 857-5036.
Salem schools begin information hot line
The Salem School System is operating a hot line for parents, students and staff to call for information about school closings, late openings, School Board meetings and other important events.
The hot line is open from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m., Monday through Friday, and 24-hours on weekends. The hot line number is 389-0130.
Greenvale School seeks donations
The Greenvale School Inc., a non-profit organization, is seeking cash donations to provide emergency assistance to working poor families. Donations help pay for medical expenses, utility and fuel bills, food, housing and child care for families that do not qualify for public assistance.
