Roanoke-area schools are doing more than teaching reading and writing; they are teaching young people about generosity and community service.
Since donations to the Good Neighbors Fund began arriving Nov. 24, there have been many contributions from faculty, staff and students at public and private schools. A second-grade class at George Washington Carver Elementary, the fifth grade at East Salem Elementary, students at Patrick Henry High School and the faculty and staff of William Fleming High School all made donations to the fund Thursday.
Other donors, including Hank Wozniak, a first-grader at Preston Park Elementary School, contributed to the Good Neighbors Fund in recognition of the dedication and skill of their teachers.
