ARGABRIGHT, Joseph Elisha, 36, of Dublin, formerly of Los Angeles, Calif., died Saturday, December 28, 1996, at the home of his sister, Irene Ross, of Dublin. Surviving are his parents, Charlie L. and Nellie B. Argabright of Check; one brother, Benjamin and wife, Sylvia Argabright of Sumter, S.C.; three sisters, Irene and husband Mike Ross of Dublin, Charlotte and husband Roger Lampey of Check, and Lola and husband Joey Lyons of Radford; several nieces and nephews; his former wife, Ethel Ekerman, and stepson, Jeffrey Ekerman, both of Los Angeles. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Shawsville Congregational Holiness Church, with the Rev. Richard Kingera and the Rev. Johnny Smith officiating. DICKASON, Spencer Jackson, (``Yogi""), 54, of Roanoke, has died. Born in Christiansburg on May 27, 1952, he was a son of the late Carrie Dickason. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Church of God in Christ, and was retired. He is survived by a daughter, Donna Charmine Dickason of Blacksburg; a son, Spencer Jackson (``Maceo"") D ickason Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Beatrice C. Morgan, Dorothy J. Beasley and Kathleen D. Spencer of Christiansburg, and two grandchildren. GREEN, Clarence Durward, 94, of Blue Ridge, died Saturday, December 28, 1996. He retired at the age of 75 from Daggett Oil Company in Bolivar, N.Y. Mr. Green was a member of the Memorial Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church in Roanoke, and was the widower of Mary Brown Green. He is survived by one son, Charles Hiram Green of San Diego, Calif.; one daughter and son-in-law, Mevelyn Green and David Brenton Snow of Blue Ridge; one brother, Elroy A. Green of Blue Ridge; two brothers-in-law, Clarence W. Woodcock of Coudersport, Pa., and Leland Kidney of Blossburg, Pa.; two grandchildren, Julie Snow Fales and her husband, William Scott Fales of Mechanicsville and Randall Brenton Snow of Blue Ridge; two great-grandchildren, Holly Lyn Fales and Amanda Nicole Fales of Mechanicsville, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. HARR, Ida Hurley, of Salem, died 12 noon Sunday, December 29, 1996 at her daughter's home in Salem, Va. Born October 3, 1910 in Argo, Kentucky, Ida Louella Hurley was the daughter of Jonathan and Margaret Hurley. She was married to Everett Harr April 19, 1935 in Williamson, W. Va. Prior to her marriage, she served seven years a a missionary in Kentucky for the Presbyterian Church. A long-time resident of Vansant, Va., Mrs. Harr moved to Salem after the death of her husband in May, 1991. Everett Harr was a former coal miner and a carpenter for the Roanoke County School System, then based in Salem. Surviving Ida Harr is her daughter, Carolyn Harr Eichelman and husband, Dr. Fred Eichelman. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Carol Eichelman Webster; great-grandson, William Webster; a grandson, Fred R. Eichelman and great-granddaughter, Annie Eichelman. Services will be held at Mullins Funeral Home in Grundy, Va., Tuesday, December 31, 1996 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice.

HILL, Carolene Epperson, 76, of Radford, died Saturday, December 28, 1996 in a Roanoke health care center. She was a retired employee of the Radford City Health Department. Surviving are a daughter, Jeanette H. Boone of Roanoke; one sister, Catherine Dalton of Radford; five brothers, Goston R. Epperson, Ararat, Arthur E. Epperson, Leesburg, Fla., William C. Epperson, Amelia, Roscoe F. Epperson, Colleyville, Texas and Bernie C. Epperson, Mt. Airy, N.C.; three grandchldren, Mark Boone and his wife Kathy, Naperville, Ill., Tim Boone and his wife, Donna, Sterling, Va., and Karen Peichel and her husband Jay, Morton, PA; six great-grandchildren also survive. HOLSTON, Alma Humphrey, 63, of 1218 Newbern Road, Pulaski, died Sunday, December 29, 1996 in Pulaski Community Hospital. Born June 1, 1933 in Wythe County, she was the daughter of the late Charles S. Humphrey, Sr. and Alma Shaffer Humphrey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sanders M. Holston, Sr. Mrs. Holston was the Office Manager for Senator Bo Trumbo and had served on Town Council for several years. She is survived by one son, Sanders M. Holston, Jr. and wife, Debbie, Hickory, N.C.; one daughter, Kathryn Holston Webb and husband, Billy, Draper; four sisters; one brother; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Rose Webb, Lauren Ann Holston, Lindsey Noel Holston. JONES, Reid, Jr., 80, of Moneta, went to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, December 28, 1996. He was born on January 18, 1916, in San Antonio, Texas, and attended John Burroughs School in St. Louis, Mo. Mr. Jones worked for the Linde Division of Union Carbide in New York City before moving to Norfolk (where he married) and subsequently settled in Roanoke in 1948. He was a veteran of World War II and the founder of Jones Welding Supplies Inc., and later co-created a spinoff company, Jones Safety Supplies, in the early 1960s. Mr. Jones was a member of the Rotary Club of Roanoke for over 45 years, becoming a president, vice president, Paul Harris Fellow, and District 7570 Paul Harris Fellow promotion chairman in 1978-79. He was a former board member of the Salvation Army, the 4-H Center and the YMCA. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret (``Margy"") and Douglas R. Irvin; two beloved grandchildren, Martin Reid (``Marty"") Irvin and Dana Brooks Irvin, and former spouse, Margaret Garris Jones, all of Roanoke; a brother and sister-in-law, Spencer B. and Betsy J. Jones of Salem, Ill.; a nephew, Chester D. Jones; a great-niece, Katie Jones, and a great-nephew, Arlo Jones. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday from St. John's Episcopal Church, with the clergy of the church officiating. Interment will follow in the Jones family cemetery in Moneta. KENDALL, Willie Mae Moore, 90, of Roanoke, formerly of Bluefield, W. Va., died Sunday, December 29, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Owen Kendall; a son, Lewis Wayne (``Butch"") Kendall, and a brother, J ames Edward Moore. She was also a member of the Midway Church of Christ in Bluefield. Mrs. Kendall retired from the Tidewater Rail Service and was the former co-owner of East Cumberland Market. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline Kendall and Frank (``Pete"") Bussey of Vinton; a granddaughter, Terri Snider and her husband, Frank Snider, Nashville, Tenn.; one brother, Thomas C. MILLER, Emma Grace Humbert, 103, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, December 28, 1996, at Friendship Manor. She was born November 17, 1893, in Somerset, Pa., the daughter of William A. Miller and Elizabeth Knepper Miller. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Miller, and two sisters, Mabel Miller and Sue Miller Shellenberger. She graduated from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pa., in 1916, with a B.A. degree in English. She taught high school in Pennsylvania, Daleville Academy in Botetourt County and Woodrow Wilson Junior High School in Roanoke. She was a charter member of Central Church of the Brethren, and served in many positions for over 50 years: teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, president of the Womens Fellowship, serving as Deaconess on many church committees. She was also active in many civic clubs, including the Roanoke Woman's Club, past president of the Thursday Morning Music Club, Blue Ridge Forum and Fortnightly Club and others. Mrs. Miller was predeceased by husbands, William K. Humbert, who worked for Roanoke City Public Schools, and Aubrey D. Miller, who worked for Richardson-Wayland Electric Corporation. Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania and Virginia, and special friends, Mac and Frances Mason of Roanoke. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel at 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 1996, with the Rev. J. Richard Gottshall officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Burial Park. Mrs. Wall was educated at Meredith College and graduated from the Barili School of Music in Atlanta, Ga. She was an organist and pianist, and a member of First Baptist Church of Lexington, N.C. Ralph was born October 14, 1930 in Carroll County, Va., the son of Luther a nd Mary Worrell. He was preceded in death by two children, Doris Ellen and Randall Taylor Worrell. He is survived by his wife, Rita Reeves Worrell; one daughter, Joyce Ann Worrell of Roanoke; one granddaughter, Jessica Ann Worrell; sister, Maxine Caudill of Roanoke; brother, Lawrence Worrell, Dayton, Ohio; stepsister, Louise Dalton of Dugspur; stepbrothers, Dayton and Maynard Marshall, both of Dugspur; special sister-in-law, Marbrie Worrell of Bent Mountain; and a host of nieces, nephews and close family friends. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Alderman Memorial Cemetery, Hillsville, Va., with the Rev. Joe Burnside officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Oakey's South Chapel.
WYRICK, Virginia Dare DeWitt, 79, of Copper Hill, passed away Saturday, December 28, 1996, in Lewis-Gale Medical Center. She was born July 7, 1917, to the late Samuel Zachariah and Maggie Vest DeWitt. Mrs. Wyrick retired from the public school system after 35 years, having taught in Floyd and Tazewell counties and the state of Maryland. She was a member of the Pocahontas (Va.) Presbyterian Church and attended Copper Hill United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wyrick was preceded in death by her husband, Walter F. Wyrick; five brothers, and one sister. Surviving are three sisters, Muriel D. Murray of Check, Daisy D. Thomas of Floyd and Kate P. DeWitt of Copper Hill; several nieces and nephews, and a very special family friend, Janice Conner of Check. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 1996, at Wood Funeral Home in Floyd, with the Rev. Larry Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in Stonewall Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Floyd County Rescue Squad or Fire Department, Joy Ranch or the charity of your choice.
YOUNG, Sallie Annie, 76, of Rocky Mount, died Saturday, December 28, 1996 at her home. Born August 26, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Julie Hodges Dowdy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Y oung, a sister, Kate Musgrove and a brother, Raymond Dowdy. Surviving are one sister, Mae Thornton of Rocky Mount; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Annie Dowdy, Wilson and Mary Ella Dowdy and Herbert and Katie Dowdy, all of Rocky Mount; a special great-niece, Dee Dee Willing and her son Chris Maxey, both of Rocky Mount; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 1996 at Lynch Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William K. Dawson officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Friends may call Monday, December 30, 1996 after 2 p.m. where the family will receive friends Monday night from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
