Risk-taking for women topic of workshop
RADFORD - Radford University's Business Assistance Center will host a daylong workshop on risk-taking for women in the workplace Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The workshop will help women identify personality characteristics that influence how a person learns and interacts. By highlighting personality weaknesses and strengths, positive qualities can be better used and negative ones can be changed.
Leading the workshop will be Mary Henton of Radford., who has made professional presentations across the United States and Australia. She recently started a consulting business on professional growth and education, and is the author of the book "Adventure in the Classroom." She has a master's degree in education from Harvard University and a bachelor's degree in English from Gordon College.

Loflin joins bank's loan department
CHRISTIANSBURG - Thomas A. Loflin has joined First National Bank's commercial loan department.
Loflin worked for the Farmers Home Administration for 18 years, where he was county supervisor. He was chosen State Employee of the Year in 1992, and National Employee of the Year in 1993.
Loflin is the past president of the Virginia Association of County Supervisors. He is a 1977 graduate of Virginia Tech. He lives in Blacksburg with his wife and two children.
Owens' Realtor named as representative
CHRISTIANSBURG - Janie Cassell, a Realtor with Owens & Company, has been chosen to represent the Christiansburg area in the Referral Network International relocation program.
The program introduces people who are moving to a new community to business services. The program is active in more than 2,100 localities across the country.
Cassell has been a Realtor and resident of Christiansburg for more than 19 years. Membership is by recommendation of an existing member.
