Percy Pannell scored 20 points to pace three players in double figures as William Fleming ran past Petersburg 70-51 in a non-district game at William Fleming.
Roland Reynolds scored 13 points and Charles Burnette chipped in 10 for the Colonels (7-3), who outscored the Crimson Wave 19-8 in the second quarter to take a 35-22 halftime advantage.
Pannell added 13 rebounds and Reynolds dished out eight assists.
Major Preston tallied 18 points for Petersburg (8-4) and Steve Bonner added 14.
Roanoke Valley Christian 61, Portsmouth Christian 56: K.C. Gilbert scored a career-high 20 points and Brad Hutchins, who was named to the all-tournament team, added 16 points as the Eagles captured fifth place in the Piedmont Classic at Winston-Salem, N.C.
Mark Delong added 13 points for RVC (9-4), while Portsmouth Christian (8-6) was led by Brian Rustay's 17 points.
Girls
William Fleming 47, Petersburg 38: Renita Walker scored 15 points and Shaunarey Walker had eight points, four rebounds, six steals and six assists to lead the Colonels to a non-district victory over the Crimson Wave.
Fleming turned up the pressure early, forcing a number of turnovers en route to a 16-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Lisa Mickens had 15 points and Terrell Jackson had 11 for Petersburg.
Cave Spring 47, Mercer Christian 40: Catie Reddick scored 12 points and pulled down six rebounds to pace the Knights to a non-district victory over Mercer Christian (W.Va.).
Lindsay Cannon added seven rebounds for Cave Spring (10-1), which led 19-13 at halftime.
Gospel Light 38, RVC 34: Allison Shreve exploded for 13 points in the final two minutes to lead the Lions (12-3) to the championship of the Piedmont Classic in Winston-Salem, N.C.
RVC (11-4) was nursing a four-point lead when Shreve, who finished with 21 points, hit three straight 3-pointers and canned four of six free throws down the stretch.
Gina Guthrie scored 11 points and Rebecca Bryant had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles. Erin Smith joined Guthrie and Bryant on the all-tournament team.
Friday's game
Roanoke Valley Christian 88, Woodland Christian 54: The Eagles placed four players in double figures as RVC defeated Woodland Christian in the second round of the Piedmont Classic in Winston-Salem, N.C..
Phil Martin, Brad Hutchins and K.C. Gilbert scored 15 points and Dan Bivins added 12 for the Eagles (8-4). Jeff Owens led Woodland Christian (2-10) with 28 points.
