BLACKSBURG TOWN WORKER STRUCK BY CAR

A town public works employee was struck by a car Friday morning, injuring his arm.

Roy Harrison Jr., of Newport, was working on water valves on Yellow Sulphur Road Friday morning; a flagman warned oncoming cars of the road work.

Sanya Marie Thomas, 22, from Blacksburg, didn't see the flagman and struck Harrison, town police said. She was charged with reckless driving and driving without insurance by Blacksburg police officers. Harrison was treated for his injury at Columbia Montgomery Regional Hospital and released.

The case will be heard in General District Court on Feb. 22.
