Mark Haden of Christiansburg has received a scholarship from The Mike Curb Music Business Program at Belmont University in Nashville. Haden was selected based on his interview, grade-point average and involvement on campus and internship experience. Haden is a senior in the music business program at the university. He has a 3.43 grade point average and is also recipient of the Sparrow Corporation Music scholarship. Haden is a member of the Gamma Beta Phi honor society. He plans to pursue a career in artist management or marketing after graduation.

Richard W. Davis Jr. of Radford graduated during Samford University's fall commencement. Davis received a Juris Doctor degree from the university which is Birmingham, Ala. He plans to join Davis & Davis Attorneys P.C. in Radford. Davis graduated from Radford High School in 1983. He has a bachelor's degree from Hampden-Sydney and a master's degree from the University of Virginia. He is the son of Richard and Mary Alice Davis of Radford.

Mariekan Osborne of Floyd is recipient of a Stuart T. Saunders Scholarship from Roanoke college. She is one of the inaugural recipients of the scholarship. Preference for the scholarship is first given to sons and daughters of Norfolk Southern employees. Osborne is a 1996 graduate of Floyd County High School. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde A. Hedge Jr. of Floyd.

Benjamin J. Green of Blacksburg is one of three Virginia students to be designated James Bowdoin scholar at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. Green is a senior at the college.

Nathan E. Collins of Blacksburg has been selected to become a member of Phi Kappa Phi national honor society at Auburn University. Collins is currently pursuing a master's degree in poultry nutrition. He plans to pursue a doctoral degree also at Auburn. Collins graduated from Blacksburg High School in 1986 and received a bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech in 1990. He then served four years in the Army. He is the son of Eldridge and Belva Collins Jr. of Blacksburg.

Robert Gibb recently became a pledge of Pi Kappa Alpha social fraternity. Gibb is a graduate of Blacksburg High School. He is the son of Colin and Jan Gibb.

Shanda H. Conley of Pearisburg graduated in December from Concord College, Athens, W.Va. She received a bachelor's degree in business administration. Her degree concentration was in accounting.
